Thursday Brief

Yesterday might be the day when USA democracy had a serious blot on its face.

In an “unprecedented assault” on democracy in America, thousands of angry supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the US Capitol and clashed with police, resulting in casualty and multiple injuries and interrupting a constitutional process to affirm Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election.

Donald Trump, who had earlier encouraged his supporters to head the capital, later requested his supporters to abide by the law and go back to their homes.

Earlier US senate had rejected the challenge to Biden’s victory in Arizona.

“This was a fraudulent election, but we can’t play into the hands of these people. We have to have peace. So go home,” Trump said in a video message posted on Twitter. The micro blogging site later removed the video and some tweets in which Trump appeared to defend the actions of his supporters.

Twitter also locked President Trump’s account for 12 hours for the first time and warned that he could get kicked off permanently.

President elect Joe Biden remarked that ‘ this  must be  the darkest moment in UA history. In an address to nation, he said “

In an address to nation President elect Joe Biden said “At this hour, our democracy is under unprecedented assault. Unlike anything we’ve seen in modern times. An assault on the citadel of liberty, the Capitol itself. An assault on the people’s representatives and police, sworn to protect them. And the public servants who work at the heart of our country . This must be darkest moment in the history of US democracy. He further added that “riots in the capital do not reflect a true America. What we are seeing is a small number of extremists dedicated to lawlessnees.  This is not dissent, it is disorder. I call on President Trump now to fulfil his oath and defend the constitution, he should go on national TV and urged the people to end this”.

Acting Secretary of Defence said that he has discussed this issue with Senate leader, Speaker and VP Pence, but he did not mention President Trump. VP Pence tweeted that violence and destruction must stop. Anyone involved in this must respect law enforcement officers, and immediately leave.

When the riots broke out the senate was approving electoral college votes, won by both the Presidential candidates.

Former UD presidents Obama and George W Bush also spoke against this violence and riots happening in capital

Stephanie Grisham, the chief of staff for first lade Melania Trump and White House press secretary Sarah Mathews already have resigned following violence in the capital area, by the supporters of President Donald Trump.

As per the latest news 4 people have died already and many are on the injured list. All over the world, politicians and other leaders are condemning the riots in the capital of USA due to supporters of President Trump, who were not ready to accept  the loss of President Trump in Presidential elections.

In my opinion, in this case the person who has to be blamed is Donald Trump, who from the day 1 of presidential election started saying this election is going to be rigged and he does not have faith in election process. Maybe he was knowing before hand that his chances of winning are not very bright, and after the election results started pouring in, he started saying that he is going to challenge this result in Supreme Court. For last 2 months  he tried his level best to stop the election commission from officially announcing the result, which was not in his favour. When 4 years back there were news all over the world that elections were rigged by Russians for his win, that time everything for  him was correct procedure. The Democratic party candidate gracefully accepted the defeat.

Whatever goodwill Donald Trump must have achieved, all has been lost due to his behaviour after the elections. He is still not ready to accept the result.

He is such a BAD LOSER.

As Indian Supreme court has opined , protests are part of democracy . Protests are certainly financed & not far to know who . But violence ,is unacceptable mob behaviour .
Prolonged racial riots earlier coupled with yesterday ‘s riots st Capitol has exposed the fragile nature of USA democracy .
God save your own country & oblige .
