Yesterday for once many people forgot about Covid 19, when they heard the news about the death of young cine actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who apparently committed suicide by hanging himself. It was really shocking news, people were surprised how can a young and successful film star can commit suicide. Slowly the news started coming that as per his close friends he was under depression for almost 6 months and was under medication for the same. But why he took this step will always remain mystery, as no suicide note was found in his house. RIP
On the corona front , Maharashtra is leading with number of patients in Indian states, and its capital Mumbai is leading among cities in the country. A dubious distinction. As per govt, in certain containment areas of Mumbai the curve is started to flatten, but we do not know when these areas will be opened what will be situation. Similarly in the national capital Delhi also the situation is getting out of control and this has happened after the lock down conditions were almost totally relaxed last week. It seems that all the four metro cities are in bad shape, the situation in Chennai is also discouraging, Regarding Kolkata, Mamata Didi is not allowing any data about number of cases/deaths etc to be released to media, but inside reports say that even Kolkata is not lacking behind as compared to other metros. No one can predict when the situation is going to be stabilised, as per some experts, in India peak situation is still not reached and they say it may take even month or two reach the same and then you may expect the curve to flatten and after that you can expect the number of cases going down. Still way long way to go, till that time we have to live with the inapt handling of the situation by the politicians, who are governing us.
In the country till date, there have been 333,000+ cases, 170,000+ cases have been recovered with deaths of about 9800 persons. Still the death is being pegged at about 3% and recovery rate of 50% of cases registered till now.
Now if you look at the top 5 states
Maharashtra 105,000+( conf. cases),49,346 (recovered), 3830 (deaths)
Tamil Nadu 42, 700 (conf. cases), 23,400 (recovered), 3097 (deaths)
Delhi 39,000 (conf. cases), 14, 950 (recovered) , 1271 (deaths)
Gujarat 23,100 (conf. cases), 15,885 (recovered), 1450 (deaths)
Uttar Pradesh 13,118 (conf. cases), 7875 (recovered), 385 (deaths).
These are the top 5 states with corona cases. The surprise packet in this list is UP, with the maximum population among these 5 states, but it has got the lease number of cases and low death rate. It looks like UP govt has done wonders to contain the number of cases in highly populated state of the country.
The top cities in the country who are contributing max to country tallies are Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai & Ahmedabad.
Most of the cities where there are more number of corona cases, they all are facing shortages of hospital beds, ICU beds and medical staff. The local administration in all these cities have failed in their duties towards the residents of the cities, looks like they though their CHALTA HAI attitude will work in this case also, as they never took the threat of corona virus seriously. In India the virus struck in big way by mid March 2020, and the other parts of world it struck much before that. They administrators of these cities have minimum one month lead time to prepare themselves to fight this virus. But in some cases it has so happened that when the fire struck then they started digging well. Only thing I want to say that all the administrators took the virus very lightly.
