It has become a common practice to use abbreviations for long names and phrases. Secondly, we use different brands in our daily lives, there are some names that do not really sound like abbreviations, but actually, they have full forms and most of us have no idea about them. Given below are some brands and their full forms.
1 BSA– The Birmingham Small Arms Company Limited. It was founded in 1861. Headquarter is located in Birmingham in the UK.

7 BPL- Multi consumer brand company, the abbreviation stands for British Physical Laboratories.
8 DKNY– The fashion brand DKNY is named after its founder Donna Karan and the city of New York, where it was founded.
9 ESPN– The sports broadcasting TV channel stands for ‘ Entertainment And Sports Programming Network.
10 FCUK– The most popular fashion brand started using FCUK after getting the idea from faxes between Hong Kong and UK which were headed FCHK to FCUK.
11 FIAT– It stands for ‘Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torini’ which means Italian Automobile factory of Turin.
12 HP– It stands for ‘Hewlett Packard’- the American multinational company responsible for its operation. In India, it also stands for Hindustan Petroleum.
13 IBM– It stands for International Business Machines Corporation.
14 ICICI Bank- It stands for Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India, it was founded in 1994.
15 ITC- ITC was originally established as ‘Imperial Tobacco Company’, but was renamed in 1970 as the ‘Indian Tobacco Company.
16 INTEL- This company’s name is a combination of Integrated Electronics.
17 JBL– James Bullough Lansing was the founder of JBL. Its headquarter is located in California, and it is famously known for speakers and headphones.
18 IRCTC– Its full form is the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation, it subsidiary of Indian Railway. It manages catering, ticketing, and tourism operations.
19 LG– It stands for Lucky Goldstar, a multinational electronics company.
20 MRF- A runner product manufacturing company which has headquarters in Chennai-formerly known as Madras- hence it is an abbreviation of Madras Rubber Factory.
21 DLF– It stands for Delhi Land & Finance, founded in 1946. It is one of the largest commercial estate developers based in India.
22 Addidas– It is actually a short form of its founder’s name Adolf Dassler.
23 H&M- The Swedish company deals in fashion and clothing and provides clothes for men, women stands for ‘Hennes & Mauritz.
24 WIPRO– Previously it was known as Western India Palm Refined Oils Limited, recently it has changed to Western India Products Limited.
25 HCL- Hindustan Computers Limited, was founded in 1976, by Shiv Nadar.
26 HMT- Hindustan Machine Tool is a public sector undertaking that was founded in 1953.
27 MDH– It is a global spice provider, its full form is Mahashian Di Hatti.
28 NDTV– New Delhi Television Ltd, was founded by Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy in 1988.
29 PVR– It stands for Priya Village Roadshow. It is one of the largest multiplex cinema chains in India.
30 TVS– TV Sundaram Iyengar founded the TVS group and paved the way for TVS Motor Company.
31 Vodafone– This name is derived from Voice, Data, and Fone (which meant phone).
