On the social media, there are widespread discussions/comments about the interview which was recently done by Karan Thapar with Farooq Abdullah of National Conference, a political party of Jammu & Kashmir, but primarily this party talks only about Kashmiri Muslims. If you watch the interview or read its transcript, you will notice that so called pseudo secular journalist was using his own agenda, and was all the time instigating Farooq Abdullah. Karan Thapar is now associated with The Wire, which is supported by Glenlivet Books, Glenlivet is a name of a distillery in Scotland, which produces scotch whiskey.
The interview was with the agenda to give Farooq Abdullah an opportunity to bash Modi govt and spew venom against India. Some of his remarks were totally baseless and malicious in nature
- On the abrogation of Articles 370 & 35 A, he said ‘I wonder they will find some one who will call himself an Indian in Kashmir, and what they did on 5th Aug 2019,was the last stone- nail in the coffin of India. They are not Pakistanis, but they do not feel Indian (do not feel Indian was instigated by Karan). We joined Gandhi’s India not Modi’s India.’
- On the question that Govt is insisting that there is acceptance of what happened in August 2019, his response was ‘ How can you protest when street is full of soldiers. The minute you remove these soldiers lakhs will be on street to protest’.
- On the question how do the people of valley view Narendra Modi & Amit Shah. His response ‘ you have to go yourself. But what they have done, there is no love for them’. Here Karan Thapar says’Is there hatred for them’ and his response was Hate is a word they are completely disillusioned.
- Farooq further says three days before 5th Aug 2019 he met PM Modi, there was no mention that Article 370 will be removed. Here Karan instigates ‘ so he misled you, and he deliberately left you with false impression’.
- On the question, after Aug 2019, parties like yours, Mehbooba Mufti’s party, stood discredited, Kashmiris felt you were servants of India but you are suggesting that, a year later situation has changed. His response was ‘now people have realised we are not slaves, we are not servants. We have tries to convince this and previous govts, start trusting the Muslims of Kashmir.’
- When Karan asked, that on 22nd Aug 2020 you said ‘ We want to assure the people, that all our political activities will be subservient to the sacred goal of reverting to status of J & K as it existed on 4th Aug 2019’. His response was ‘ normally union territories become states, here state has become union territory.’
- On the question, the mood of rest of country is that abrogating 370 & 35A was right. His response was ‘ rest of the country has been so grilled through media and the Kashmir was ruined by three families, and they believed that.
- Karan Thapar further instigated by saying’ there is petition on this issue in Supreme Court, but SC shows no interest in hearing it, they are deliberately pushing further and further, so SC is letting you down. His response was we want to appeal to SC to expedite the petition. He added further that even Parliament is not allowing discussion on Kashmir, my party, Congress Trinamool Congress and DMK told parliament that there should be discussion, but speaker could not allocate time.
These were few of the salient points, Farooq even said in interview that Kashmir will be better placed if ruled by Chinese. This total interview was with the intention to degrade India in the world. There is too much arrogance in the mind of Kashmir’s main stream politicians like Abdullahs, Muftis and other, as they were always pleased by earlier central govts. In the interview Farooq. Abdullah called Modi-Shah as fascists for abrogating article 370. He probably forgot that article 370 was abrogated not just by Modi and Shah but by majority in both houses of India’s parliament after due discussion/debate and Indian President signed the bill. Was Farooq Abdullah calling members of parliament as well as Indian President fascists for abrogating article 370? Does Farooq Abdullah understand that it is India’s sovereign right to give as well as take away special right to states whenever it wants? Even the architect of article 370, Pandit Nehru had described it as temporary and transient with full understanding that it will be abrogated in the future.
Now Farooq Abdullah was upset that PM Modi didn’t give him a clue about the shape of things to come when he met him a couple of days before 5th Aug, 2019. Does Mr. Abdullah expect that PM Modi to divulge confidential details of his Government’s moves?
To my surprise Karan Thapar never mentioned in his interview about the plights of Kashmiri Pandits, one must remind Farooq Abdulla that Kashmiri Pandits’ genocide took place under his watch and he didn’t do anything to stop it. The height of their intolerance is that these politicians like Abdullahas and Muftis still don’t want to talk about safe return of the Kashmiri Pandits who fled from the valley in 1991. It is easy to see who is communal in Kashmir.
Now politician like Farooq Abdullah are accusing Modi government of demographic change when all that is being done is to grant residency permits to long time resident of J&K irrespective of religion. Shameless Jammu & Kashmir politicians will invite Rohingya refugees to settle in Jammu but won’t allow a Hindu professional working in Kashmir valley for several years. How do they envision J & K’s progress without allowing professionals and business people from the rest of India to settle in Jammu & Kashmir. For almost 7 decades they did not allow outside people to settle there,, so that no progress could take place in J & K, and these politicians keep on getting funds to run the state, and indirectly fill their coffers also.
One more surprising thing is no body from the so called secular gangs, have given their comment on this interview which was totally anti Indian, on the other hand they must be feeling happy that someone has given platform to Farooq Abdullah to spew venom against present govt. Awaiting your views/comments/feed backs.
