1 With many cities being feared for facing water crisis, India has run into a greater challenge that the entire continents of Africa or Europe, this is as per survey conducted by World Wide Fund for Nature. Consequently India faces second highest risk in the world, which is only better than Palestine. The analysis of the finding shows ‘Water Risk Filter’ and this focuses on two things-water stress cities face now and projected increase by 2050. Now if you go by water risk now and that projected for 2050 then Indian cities dominate the list of cities facing very high water risk.
On the scale of 1 to 5, anything over 3 is high risk and over 4 is very high risk. Of tye 30 cities that are considered under water crisis, 26 scores over 4, meaning they face very high risk. The second worst place is Middle East, has only 6 such high risk cities, Balance of Asia (barring China) has 5, North America has 3, China has 2, and Central America has none. None of the other continents has any city facing very high risk. The steepest escalation projected for India cities is for Jaipur (11%) and Indore (10%).
Water Risk score in major India cities ( score is out of 5, where a score of near 5 is at the greatest risk: Bangalore-4.6, Delhi-4.5, Kolkata-4.3, Pune 4.2 and Mumbai-3.6.
In my opinion this is going to very serious issue in future and govt , both at Centre and State levels should give a serious though and work in the right direction to solve this problem otherwise our future generation will be suffering.
2 Maharashtra CM Udhav Thackerey of Shiv Sena in his Dusshera rally had severely criticise BJP’s central and state leadership. Now ex CM and presnt Rajya Sabha MP Narayan Rane who is now in BJP ( earlier he was in Shiv Sena, then he joined Congress and now in BJP) said in his recent press briefing with press that ‘Udhav Thackerey cheated BJP and grabbed the Chief Minister Ship, and added that if Bala Sahib was alive he would have not made Udhav CM, because he used to say he is good for nothing guy’. He further added that Udhav has no right to speak on Hindutatva, as he joined the forces with parties with non Hindutatva ideology, for becoming CM, although he had pre poll alliance with BJP, and during campaigning Shiv Sena asked vote in the name of Modi.
Rane said that CM gave his son Aditya Thackerey a clean chit when CBI final report is pending in Sushant Singh Rajput’s casea Udhav called me frog during his rally, if he again makes a comment against my family of BJP, then what I had experienced by staying in Shiv Sena for 39 years, will be revealed. He further added that Udhav hates Maratha community and earlier he was never in favour of providing reservations to Marathas, but now under the pressure of Congress/NCP he has changed his tune.
All the above said by Rane was in response to What CM said in his Dusshera rally. In this rally Udhav referred Rane as frog and said he and his two sons are hopping from this to that party. Criticising the Central govt he added that they should accept that GST is failure. Maharashtra has still not received GST arrears of Rs 36,000 Cr, which has affected the performance of his govt in present pandemic.
Udhav further added that BJP has promised free vaccine to Bihar during election campaign there, why not rest of India also? On Hindutatva, he said our stand on the issue is much more older than BJP’s stand on Hindutatva. Bala Sahib was the first person to speak on this topic, when no one had daring to talk on this topic. He spoke on many other topics like Knagana Ranaut, people trying to bring down my govt, Mandir politics etc, which is immaterial at present times and would not comment on the same..
My only contention is that GST has been accepted by most of the states, and Shiv Sena was part of NDA when GST was introduced. Now he is speaking the Congress/NCP language, because they were against the GST, as chance of corruption is reduced. For some cities stoppage of Octroi has drastically reduced the earnings of corrupt local parties and officials. Why Udhav is not realising that if GST collection has been reduced because of Covid 19 situation, then Centre also has less funds to distribute on account of GST, but still Centre is slowly releasing the GST dues to the states. I do not wish to comment on his stand on Hindutatva, because he is changing his statements, because if he says something which is not liked by the bosses of Congress and NCP, he is changing his stand. Classic case is Ram Mandir temple issue- when Supreme Court gave the judgement in favour of Hindus, initially he showed his happiness but from the next day his statements were guarded. Even when Shilanyas date was announced, first he said he would like to attend the same, but later changed his tune, when BJP govt did not react positively. In the end govt issued only limited invitations for the Shilanyas ceremony, and Udhav Thackerey name was not there in the list of invitees. Now there is problem for Shiv Sena and its cadre- for last so many decades they have projected themselves as party supporting strong Hindutatva and now because of alliance with Congress/NCP they can not openly speak for Hindutatva.
On free vaccine, Udhav Thackerey should realised the health is astate subject, and during election campaigning for Bihar state election BJP leaders promised free vaccine. If Maharashtra CM wants, he can also give free vaccine in his state.
Shiv Sena must have realised now that at what cost they have got the power, now in future they will be one among the many parties who are anti BJP, and their own identity will be lost.
