With PM Modi declaring total lock down in the country of next 3 weeks for to stop the spread of Corona Virus. Now the people have no choice but to stay at home . Those who are working in the companies who are allowing employees to work from home due to nature of company’s business , and other people who are working with the companies where nature of business can not allow employee to work from home, in that case people have to workout how to kill their time during this lock down period.
Now it has become must for a person to work out his daily schedule and plan for some other activities, to enable him/her to pass the time while sitting at home. I am listing below some activities which a person can engage in kill the time:
1.Family Time– The otherwise busy schedule at work and the humdrum of the long queues waiting in the traffic does not spare people enough time to devote to the families, therefore, the lockdown can be made worthwhile in spending some quality time with family members and share memorable moments.
2.Learn how to cook -For people who are a connoisseur of delicious food, and cannot cook, can try their hands at culinary skills. The lockdown is a perfect opportunity to read some of the recipes and treat oneself to gourmet
3.On line movies or books -The movie buffs can now relax back on the couch and watch their favourite flick all day long on one of the streaming services. There can be a list of movies to check off from and new genres can be explored, ranging from action, thriller, even horror. One can also try the new watch together feature and have as many friends as they want onboard. If not, one could pick any book and spend some time reading and delve into the creative realm of words.
4..Learn a new Hobby-This is a time when one could exactly give a first try at something, you never had enough time to learn. Like learning how to play the guitar, or painting or even gardening.
5.Get Organised-There’s a fact that almost everyone would agree to, we never quite had the time to dust off the household furniture and other items, or arrange the wardrobe, or made more space on the unoccupied side of the bed. Now is the time to introduce those changes to transform the room into more something more interesting and organized.
6.Start Home Exercise Routine– Working out at home in these times is obviously a good way to stay healthy and kill indoor time. There are lots of options, many online workout sources are giving the method of how to do particular exercise at home, which might be worth looking into. But again, anything that gets your heart pumping or builds muscle is excellent for both physical and mental health.
7.De Clutter & Clean Your Home– Working on your home if you have time can be a good way to feel productive and in control. Take the opportunity of the extra time by de cluttering, cleaning or organizing your home, cleaning not only offers a sense of control in the face of uncertainty, but also offers your mind, body and soul a respite from traumatic stress.
The caveat is that you don’t want to become obsessive about cleaning, since there’s only so much you can do. But using the extra time, if you have it, to reorganize and toss or donate items you no longer use is a very good idea.
8.Meditation/Breathing-Meditation has been proven to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, and even increase the volume of certain areas of the brain. But if meditation isn’t for you, just breathing slowly might be. Controlled breathing has been used for millennia to calm the mind. The researchers also point out that slow breathing is used “clinically to suppress excessive arousal and stress such as certain types of panic attacks”. So trying some controlled breath work (there are good resources for this online) may be an especially healthy idea during these days.
9.Maintain community and social connection– We are fundamentally social. Social connectivity is the perhaps the greatest tool to feel safe. So during time like this we have to be creative, to maintain both psychological closeness and a sense of community. Texting and social media are ok, but picking up the phone and talking or videoconferencing, is probably much better.
10.Practice gratitude-This is not the easiest thing to do in these times, particularly if you feel the more brutal effects of the situation, like job or business loss, or illness. But practicing gratitude for the things we do have has been proven to be hugely beneficial for mental health. For instance ,studies have shown that it has been found that writing down five things one was grateful for, just once a week was significantly linked to increased physical and mental health.
Friends I hope, this article will help you in maintaining your good health during this lock down period.
