Yesterday Covid 19 pandemic achieved a very sad milestone when daily cases in India crossed 1 lakh figure. Yesterday figure was 1,03,844, which is greater than earlier peak of 98,795 on 17th Sept 2020. Thus India becoming 2nd country after USA to achieve 1lakh + cases in single day. Now coming to Maharshtra where situation is worsening day by day, and it also created the sad record of achieving highest number of cases in day after the onset of pandemic. Yesterday figure for Maharashtra was 57,000+. Out of this Mumbai Metropolitan region contributed nearly 20,000 cases, which is 35% of the figure reported in Maharashtra, sameway Pune district contributed 24% of cases. If Maharashtra were a country, with a caseload of 30,10,597 would place it at the tenth position among the most affected countries in the word. The state now has more cases than Germany. From tonight Maharashtra has declared apartial lockdown during weekdays and total lockdown during weekends till 30th April 2021.
Now coming to my other topic :
Friends you all are knowing THE WALKING is considered to be one the best habits across the world. There are groups of various age groups who walk either in the morning and evening. With this, they socialise also and can discuss any topics under the sun. This keep both body and mind very active. Now weather change also brings change in walking habits, like monsoon may make walking too tricky, while the summer and winter has its own share of issues.
In the summer season at some places killing heat and sun, is a great matter of concern for the walkers, as it dehydrates the body, and thus many people may skip walking during summer. However, for continuing to walk in summer, all it needs is alittle care and change in schedule and habits to keep your walking exercise going.
Make It Early Or Late :
The sun is up quite early, so it is better to change your walk timings to make it a bit earlier that you would do in other seasons. If you have your walk at a time when the coolness of the night is still around, early in the morning, the sun will not have any affect on you. Now if you walk in the evening, plaese delay your walk timing.
Change Clothes :
Wear light cotton clothes to avoid the heat troubling you and to ensure that the skin can breathe through. Use hat or caps, if required, and ensure to carry shall towel or napkin, and a water bottle to quench thirst.
Find Shady Areas:
It is always better to walk in the shade during the summer. There could be parks or roads with trees along the footpath. The areas with trees are definitely cooler as compared to open tracks or roads during summer.
Reduce The Strain :
During the summer, it is better to reduce the exercise or exercise timing, as compared to other seasons. Suppose if you were making certain rounds of park, it is preferable to cut the rounds by one. The idea is not to overstrain and sweat and lose body fluids. Also enough water and liquids should be taken to avoid dehydration. You could even think of slowing your pace instead of usual speed that you follow.
Split The Session :
You could always think of splitting the walk into two or three sessions. Suppose you take six round of certain park, then you may think of stopping and resting for a while after 2 rounds, in this time you may hydrate your body. This will ensure that your body is not dehydrated.
Acclimatize :
It is very essential to get your body acclimatize in the summer season or any season. In case of summer before you do any strenous or stressful walking when the heat is more, gradually start your exercise schedule and build it up increasing daily, if you feel up to it. If not, you could stop at what you feel is comfortable and compensate it with some indoor exercise like yoga etc.
Danger Signs :
This is specially for elderly people, if you feel nauseous, too tired and dizzy, sit down under shady place immeditely. Drink water and rest, and if required take help to get back home. If the sign are extreme, then better get yourself to a doctor immeditely, as the chances of heat stroke are there in this season.
If you feel your body has heated up extremely, immediately drink water, and elevate your leg so as to improve blood flow to legs. Go inside and relax under a fan or in air conditioned room.
Follow the above precautions and watch out for the warning signs, if you walk during the summer then learn to stay safe.
Hope you will be benefitted by this information during the summer season.
