1 French Open Tennis tournament, which concluded  yesterday was really an engrossing tournament, which created few records:

Barbora Krejcikova won the ladies’ singles and double titles both this year. The last time this has happened in the French Open in the year 2000 when Mary Pierce won both the titles. Other interesting facts,  ladies section was really a surprise when world no. 31 and world no. 33 contested the finals. I do not know when both the players outside world 30 rankings contested the final, and the winner was world no. 33.

In the men’s section, Novak Djokovic won the title by defeating  Stefanos Tsitsipas in pulsating final. Djokovic was trailing 2 sets to love and he staged a remarkable comeback in the next 3 sets and won the match. Even in the semi-finals, he was trailing 1 set to love against 13 times French Open champion Rafael Nadal, here also he staged a comeback and won the next three sets. By winning his 2nd French open title he became the first male tennis player of the modern era who has won minimum every grand slam at least 2 times. This feat has not achieved by even great players like Roger  Federar and Rafael Nadal. Last time Rod Laver has achieved this feat in 1969. As he is still very fit, although he is 34 years old, he might overpass the records of Federar and Nadal, who have won grand slam tournaments 20 times each. Yesterday Djokovic won his 19th grand slam title. Last week everyone was expecting Rafael Nadal to win his 21st title by winning the French Open, but it was not so.

2 In today’s world smartphone is the thing, as you get connected to the world and it can be used to your advantage. Even more important is the convenience of using it for making payments, bookings or using a voice assistant, etc. The plus points of using a smartphone far outweigh that of not using one. But then, there is an issue of not being tech-savvy enough or being forgetful There is a chance you may misplace your phone somewhere, or plain forget where you have kept it. There is also a possibility that someone just stole it as well. Buying a new phone is not much as of a hassle as losing contacts and setting up a new phone. There are few tricks that you can use to keep your phone safe.

Track your phone– Almost all phones, especially Android and iOS phones come with a feature to track your phone. In Android phones, there is option in Settings, under security to turn on an option for Find Device. You could also use the Google options under which will again find the Security option, in which you will find an option ‘ Find My Device’ and turn it on. IN iOS, this will be listed as the Find my iPhone option.

In the case of Google, you can log into your Google account from any device and track your phone, if it has been lost, misplaced, or stolen. However, as is the rule of law, one should always report the same to the police as well as SIM/Telecom provider and provide them the tracking details rather than track the thief oneself.

Use a Lock Screen option– One may think that it is easier to use a phone with just a swipe. However, it is always better to put a Lock Screen password for your phone. There are many apps like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, etc along with your mail that is auto logged in, on the phone. So, if you lose your phone or someone has stolen it, one swipe will provide them all access. This can be extremely dangerous, as there is a possibility that even they get access to your bank accounts.

Lock Screen and Password are great options, but in my opinion people with some ailments, comorbidity,  and senior should avoid the same if they have to go outside. This is because, if something happens to you on the road, it will be easier to contact your family member, but if your phone is locked with any type of password then it may become impossible to contact.

Backup–  There are options to backup all your data to the Cloud, irrespective of which phone you are using. Photos, WhatsApp conversations, etc can be backed on Google Drive, Dropbox, or private cloud options of the manufacturer like Mi cloud or iCloud. these can be easily found in your Settings, depending on the phone and version that you are using. Many things can be synced including your contacts so that even if you lose your phone, you can get it all back

These are just a few of the options that can be used to stay safe and be smart against losing a phone. So, it is always better to be safe than be sorry.

Smartphones are the friendly gadgets which have made everything reachable through a touch. But they have their own advantages and disadvantages.
