For today’s weekend blog I am once again turning to Bollywood.
In recent times, with so many problematic movies, Bollywood has shown that it doesn’t care about quality content. With the exception of a few movies, there are so many movies that make us wonder who gave them the green light in the first place. Driven by numbers, Bollywood is so obsessed with the box-office collection that it seems like it hardly gives any importance to the script. And, here are such movies that should have been scrapped during the discussion phase only.
1 Student of the Year 2 (2019)
The movie’s plot made no sense. Two girls-Tara Sutaria and Ananya Pandey-fight the eternal female battle over one boy-Tiger Shroff. With no focus on education, every character is dressed like a model. Just because, it was backed by Karan Johar’s banner with nepotism kids. It was just a stupid movie.
2 Kalank (2019)
Another multi-starrer by Karan Johar that no one needed. It was one of those movies where the makers gave more importance to clothes than the script. The movie is located in some undefined period in British rule, so no one can really guess when exactly the movie is happening. Even a huge star cast which includes Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, could not save the movie.
3 Now let’s talk about some movies starring Salman Khan, Bharat (2019), Radhe (2021), Dabang 3 (2019) and Race3 (2018). These films were so bad, that they all tanked during the first weekend of release. The brand Salman Khan has taken a quiet beating with these movies.
4 Kabir Singh (2019)
The movie did a fantastic business, and it is rated as Shahid Kapoor’s no.1 movie business-wise. The movie is just an ugly reminder of how Bollywood shamelessly celebrates toxic characters as heroes. From promoting violence to toxic behaviors, this movie really shot women’s empowerment in the face.
5 Coolie No. 1 (2020)
The remake of Govinda’s Coolie No. 1 was not even close to its original version. Makers need to understand that fancy locations and costumes are not the only things that make movies.
6 Baghi 3 (2020)
This movie has nothing new to offer to impress the audience and critics. With a storyline similar to Baaghi 1 and 2, there was hardly anything to watch in this movie. Wish someone could have told makers that a great physique does not make a good movie. It is acting, story, screenplay, and dialogue that matter.
7 Laxmii (2020)
The Akshay Kumar starrer grabbed everyone’s attention right after the release of the trailer. However, the movie failed to impress the audience. In one of the reviews of this movie, it was mentioned that “ Akshay Kumar’s movie is non-stop nonsense”.
8 Love Aaj Kal 2 (2020)
I think the makers spent more time creating unnecessary hype about the relationship Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aryan than working on this film. Maybe that’s the reason why this movie feels like torture and sheer waste of money.
9 Khali Peeli (2020)
From the problematic song to the awful acting skills of Ananya Pandey and Ishaan Khattar, there is hardly anything that doesn’t disappoint the audience.
10 Sadak 2 (2020)
Just like Kalank, Sadak 2 is an ideal example of how makers can not serve anything relevant to the audience. Even with the most popular actors like Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, and Aditya Roy Kapoor, the movie just collapsed at the box office.
11 Housefull 4 (2019)
Some franchises should stop right after the first film, Housefull is one of them. Its fourth installment was a reincarnation comedy, but the audience did not find it funny. The ensemble cast and song “Bala” could not save the movie.
So these were some of the bad movies released in the last 3 years. Even in 2022, there are many bad films that were released, and they also tanked at the box office.
Waiting for your views on this blog.
