There are certain rules that need no introduction because they are not documented in books nor authorized by law, and still, they govern our routine life. This simple ‘common sense is also known as ‘unwritten rules. Things like not swiping sideways if someone shows a picture on their phone, or never making fun of someone else’s laugh. Listed below are some unwritten or golden rules which one must adopt in daily life.
#1 Never make fun of someone who is overweight at the gym.
#2 If someone comes up to you that you do not know and starts talking about being your friend, you play along.
#3 If you are wrong admit it.
#4 You are having bad doesn’t mean that you have to ruin other people’s day.
#5 Do not play your music loudly when in public. For example, while walking down the road or sitting on a bus one should not be blasting music on their personal device. Better use headphones.
#6 Always let people out before walking in. This applies to elevators, trains, or anything similar.
#7 If someone is giving you a ride, be ready before the person arrives to pick you up.
#8 When driving and someone lets you into the traffic stream, be sure to do the ‘Thank you wave’.
#9 Do not hit on women when they are at work. They are not flirting, they are just being nice, it is their job.
#10 If someone holds a door open for you, then please acknowledge and say thank you.
#11 Chew with your mouth closed.
# 12 Pay people back before they have to ask you to.
# 13 Do not cheat on your beloved.
#14 Return the shopping cart when you are done with it.
#15 If you are walking side by side on a sidewalk and someone comes towards you, please make room.
#16 Always tell a girl if she has bled through on her period.
#17 Do n touch me or stand so close to me that I can feel you breathing if I do not know you.
#18 Be patient with the elderly.
#19 If you borrow a friend’s car, fill up then when returning it as a thank you.
#20 Do not bother someone with headphones in unless it is important. They have headphones in for a reason.
#21 Maintain personal hygiene regularly.
#22 For women-always have an extra pad on you. You never know. You never know when another woman might desperately need it.
#23 Always say please and thank you. Most people know this, but not everyone does it.
#24 Never ask a woman if she is pregnant.
#25 Common sense is not that common, so explain things in the simplest manner you possibly can.
#26 There is an ABC mantra at work. Assume nothing, believe nobody, and check everything.
#27 Visiting someone’s place for the first time, please take something as a gift.
#28 Do not touch another person’s hair just because you think it is pretty.
#29 Especially to your kids, do not make promises you can not keep.
# 30 If someone clearly does not want to talk to you or needs to be somewhere else, let them be.
#31 do not touch a disabled person’s mobility aids without being specifically asked to do so by the person.
#32 Never say something to someone you love that you can not recover from in the heat of an argument. You love that person for a reason.
#33 Ask the person if they are at the back of the line before you join it.
#34 Cover your mouth when you cough/sneeze with your elbow, not with your hand, as you will touch many things with it afterward.
#35 If you are in someone else’s home/car, ask before you do something
#36 If a street performer makes you stop walking, you owe him a buck.
#37 If you can smell yourself, then it is too late.
#38 We do not fight at weddings.
#39 When letting cars into traffic, you let one then you go, just keep alternating.
#40 Always start with the question “how might be wrong”. This phrase is the core question of science and the start of all wisdom.
So these are some basic golden rules in daily life, please adhere to them.
