Kahani Mein Twist

In this weekend’s blog, I am writing about the Bollywood movies which have shocked us beyond belief with epic twists and turns in their plots that some of us took time to recover from them. Here are some of the Bollywood films of this genre that had enough Kahani Mein Twist.

1 Special 26– This film is based on a certain true event that happened in the late 1980s. When a veteran star cast of Anupam Kher, Akshay Kumar, Divya Dutta, and Jimmy Shergill comes together, we know the movie is going to blow our minds. It keeps up to its expectations or maybe even exceeds them, as a group of con artists posing as CB officers raid dirty politicians and businessmen for their black money.

2 Kahani– One of the best Bollywood films of this genre. The film had only one known face Vidya Balan. She is shown as a heavily pregnant woman looking for her missing husband across the streets of Kolkata. The film’s eerier progression and the intelligent storyline keep the audience on the edge of a nervous breakdown but still keep them calm, and the climax is mind-blowing.

3 Talaash– With Aamir Khan as the protagonist, we certainly can not expect anything other than perfection, but Talaash is an outstanding film that will take you by surprise in the most surreal way. A police officer, played by Aamir Khan, investigates the death of a famous film star while grieving the death of his own late son. Also starring Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor.

4 Who Kaun Thi– A 1960s horror–suspense film, which gave the audience sleepless nights. Do not underestimate this film because it was released about 6 decades back. It starts with Manoj Kumar, a doctor, who gives a ride to a lonesome woman on the street but later finds out that his new bride is identical to the woman he met on the other night, who disappears in a graveyard. Spooky!

5 Karthik Calling Karthik– One of the most underrated movies of recent times. This, Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone starrer kick-off as a light-hearted love story that quickly turns extremely psychotic and paranoid. Can not say much without giving a storyline but the ‘zor ka jhatka’ you are expecting will hit you hard. Really hard!

6 Kaun– A creepy Manoj Bajpai plays nerdy Sameer in this Ram Gopal Verma’s thriller, who pesters a petrified Urmila Matondkar throughout this film. If Manoj’s sticky hair, specs, and unsettling smile were not terrifying enough, the film’s screenplay is guaranteed to make you sick to your stomach.

7 A Wednesday– if you enjoy fuss-free narratives and complicated storylines, this is the movie for you. The legendary Naseeruddin Shah is a delight to watch on screen and so is Anupam Kher, as Mumbai’s Police Commissioner. The whole movie is about the events that unfolded on one Wednesday in retired Naseeruddin’s life but will stay with you for the rest of your life.

8 Andhadhun– Starring Ayushman Khurana, Tabu, and Radhika Apte, is full of twists and turns, it will exhaust you before letting you get bored. Ayushman is supposedly a blind pianist, who witnesses a murder, and his bad fate does the rest. Both Ayushman and Tabu acted so well that it left you speechless.

9 NH 10– Equally terrifying and empowering, a badass Anushka Sharma seeking revenge on a gangster and his goons who make her and her husband’s life miserable is so compelling, it will make you weep while you laugh. A must for every woman.

10 Bahubali– Not a suspense thriller but equally suspenseful and thrilling. It is an epic period drama of two brothers who go to war to claim the throne. Although the very twist in the story is no longer a secret, I would still suggest anyone who has not watched the two-part movie to give it shot. It won’t disappoint you.

Other honourable mentions in this list are- Gumnaam, Bees Saal Baad, Jewel Thief, Darr, and Ittefaq.

Waiting for your views on this blog.
