Today is Friday, and it is time for my weekend blog. Back with Bollywood- Friends the relationship between Bollywood celebrities can’t be predicted easily. It does not matter how much cooler and smart they look on screen, but it is not sure they are that much cooler in their relationship off-screen. There are times when the actors rejected the movie because they do not like their co-stars. In these types of cases depending upon the producer/director either one of the actors is replaced, if the other co-star cannot be replaced then it has happened many times the said celebrity star has left that particular movie. When it comes to doing any movie, many stars are very selective.
Here are a few such cases:
1 Kareena Kapoor- Emraan Hashmi
The Begum of Bollywood has always been very choosy about her costars. Right at the beginning of her career, she announced that she would sign films with only top stars. So, though she agreed to star in Karan Johar’s ‘Budtameez Dil’ initially, she later walked out of the film citing that she was not comfortable sharing an on-screen lip-lock with costar Emraan Hashmi. As far as I recall this movie never got made.
2 Ranbir Kapoor- Sonakshi Sinha
Ranbir Kapoor once turned down a romantic comedy in which he was supposed to share screen space with Sonakshi Sinha. According to Ranbir, she looks too much older than him, and starring opposite her would make him look young. Rumours have it that Kapoor suggested the name of other actresses for the role but when producers refused, he chose to walk out of the movie.
3 Ranveer Singh- Katrina Kaif
Before Sidharth Malhotra, Ranveer Singh was offered the role opposite Katrina Kaif in ‘Baar Baar Dekho’. However, according to news floating in Bollywood, Ranveer turned down the role in order to not offend his lady love Deepika Padukane (now his wife). Apparently, Deepika and Katrina did not get along well with each other owing to their history with Ranbir Kapoor.
4 Aishwarya Rai- Emraan Hashmi
Friends, remember the time when Emraan called Aishwarya ‘plastic’ on the show ‘Koffee with Karan’. Well, seems she never got over that. According to reports, she refused to star in ‘Baadshaho’ when she learned that Dilji Dosanjh has been replaced by Emraan Hashmi.
5 Katrina Kaif- Aditya Roy Kapoor
Though Katrina and Aditya are good friends in real life, she once refused to work with Aditya because she did not want her career graph to see low. She had already starred with him in ‘Fitoor’(2016) which was dud at the box office. After that Katrina had become very selective in choosing her films and she was not quite sure about their onscreen chemistry after delivering a flop with him.
6 Aishwarya Rai- Salman Khan
The iconic role of Mastani in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’ was initially intended for her. However, she dropped out of the role after she learned that Bhansali was planning to cast Salman Khan as Bajirao. Well, Aishwarya and Salman’s ugly breakup is known to everyone. Eventually, the film was made with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
7 Amitabh Bachchan- Kareena Kapoor
Kareena Kapoor was the first choice for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Black’ but when Amitabh discovered that she has been roped in for the role he refused to do the film. As a result, Kareena was replaced by Rani Mukerji. The relationship between the Bachchans and Kapoors has been sore ever since the engagement of Abhishek and Karishma Kapoor was called off.
