In this weekend’s blog, I am writing about some DUMBASS CHARACTERS seen in Bollywood movies, these characters redefined stupidity. The unintentional brainlessness displayed by these characters guaranteed a chuckle or two, and you cursed the writer/director team who wanted us to believe these characters.
Here is the list of such dumbass characters seen in Bollywood films:
1 Abhishek Bachchan’s Jai Dixit from the ‘Dhoom series’
You know someone is a special kind of stupid when there is another dumbass character played by Uday Chopra (Ali) who thinks he is smarter than Jai Dixit. Abhishek Bachchan plays that doomed police officer whose only function is to be awful at his job. He is a captain clueless-who has the unique talent of never catching criminals.
2 Anushka Sharma as Taani from ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’
Taani does not realize her boyfriend, with whom she is having an extramarital affair, is actually her husband. Yes, she can not recognize he husband without his moustache and different hairstyle.
3 Himani Shivpuri as Susheela in ‘Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon’
She is all kinds of problematic and regressive, so it is often hard for sane people to understand why she acts the way she does. When she found out her daughter was heartbroken but had not had sex with a heartbreaker, her reaction was—“Toh problem kya hai”.
4 Kartik Aryan’s Gogo from ‘Pyar Ka Punchnama’
He is the kind of idiot who thinks he is really smart. He is sexist and treats his girlfriend like shit instead an equal, and readily spews a long rant about ‘women being parasites’, the second she gives back to him, he is speechless, and does not know what to do.
5 Amrish Puri as Vir Bhadra Singh in ‘Khushi’
Other than the fact he is a territorial psycho to his daughter, Lali, played by Kareena Kapoor, there is a lot of stupid stuff this character does. When a doctor is extracting blood for some tests, he screams “ Ae doctor teri himmat kaise hui meri beti ka khoon nikalne ki? Wapas dal. Jaldi kar”
6 Shah Rukh Khan as Raj in ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’
He harasses Simran, stalks her, and then follows her to India. If his plan to woo a woman was not stupid enough, there is the fact that he befriends her fiancé and attends the whole wedding functions pretending to be his friend. What is this behavior, if not proof that he is a dumbass.
7 Everyone in ‘Biwi No. 1’
Is Pooja (Karishma Kapoor) the real fool for wanting to take back her cheating husband (Salman Khan)? Is he the actual idiot for making up the stupidest lies about his kind and loving wife and cheating on her? Is Rupali (Sushmita Sen) the fool for believing him? Or are the side characters, like those played by Anil Kapoor and Tabu, the real clueless ones?
8 All the dumbass students in ‘Mohabbatein’
Jugal Hansraj, Jimmy Shergill, and Uday Chopra are in Gurukul (boarding school) but want to rebel against the strict rules, by getting married. All their principal says to these students is that they should focus on academics and not have orgies in the assembly hall. But apparently, this is considered tyrannical behavior and he deserves to be demonized.
