The general election in the country is reaching its climax, as out of 7 phases, polling has been completed in 5 phases. As per media reports, it is going to be keen contest between INDI alliance and National Democratic Alliance (NDA). During this election I have observed that media, which is considered as 4th pillar of democracy, is reporting in a very biased manner, and the social media is at its worst while writing/speaking about the elections and other political happenings in the country. During this election period I have come across some funny statements, promises and announcement of freebies by leaders of various political parties, and this raised a thought in my mind that, are these politicians think public is fool and whatever they say will be accepted by public? They also think that public memory is very short and public will not remember what they had said or…

Hrishikesh Mukherjee-Comedy Movies
In today’s weekend blog, I am writing about a particular genre of comedy movies made by one director. Although this director has made other movies like Anari, Anuradha, Satyakam, Anand, Namak Haram, Mili, Abhimaan and many more. But no one can deny that the director HRISHIKESH MUKHERJEE gave some of the best comedy movies. Not only his movies were relatable, but were also hilarious without sleazy lines or slapstick comedy. In times, when many makers resort to sexism or misogyny to make people laugh, we can’t stop but admire Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s comedy movies. Here, I am visiting some of the finest comedies made by him, which may belong to the earlier generation, but are timeless in their humour, and are liked and loved by the present generation also. 1 Guddi 1971 This light-hearted comedy is about a young girl-Guddi (played by Jaya Bhaduri), who is obsessed with the film star…
Chabahar Port
Friends, for the last few days one news that has been getting front-page coverage in newspapers is that CHABAHAR PORT of Iran. Recently India and Iran signed a 10-year contract to operate this strategic Iranian Port of Chabahar. A day after the contract was signed, a US State Department spokesperson said that any entity considering business deals with Iran needs to be aware of the potential risk of sanctions. Earlier Chabahar had got a waiver from the US sanctions under the US administration led by President Donald Trump. This is a deep water port located in the Sistan-Baluchistan province of Iran. It is closest Iranian port to India, and is located in the open sea, providing easy access for large cargo ships. A trilateral agreement was signed in May 2016, during the visit of PM Modi to Iran to establish the International Transport and Transit Corridor (Chabahar Agreement). This agreement…

Dance of Democracy
With General Elections in the country going on, it looks like polity is reaching its nadir. I have never seen such types of name calling; INDI alliance leaders and other opposition parties’ leaders offering freebies right, left, and centre; filing complaints to Election Commission against the opponents, etc.etc. In this Dance of Democracy, if you go by the allegations of some of the leaders democracy is in danger if PM Modi gets re-elected again. As per them, the present government is using ED, CBI, and other central agencies to harass the opposition leaders. In my opinion, it is better than the earlier UPA government where the ruling party leaders after getting caught in scams, then these same agencies were used to dilute the charges against the tainted leaders so that they could go scot free. Here are some stray thoughts on the recent happenings during this election campaign period: 1…
Bollywood-Serial Killer Films
In this weekend’s blog, I am writing on Bollywood. Bollywood is generally known for making stereotype masala films, but sometimes directors try making films of other genre, and one of the genre is portrayal of serial killers, which has always been a fascinating subject for both filmmakers and audience. Over the years, Bollywood has produced some memorable and chilling characters that have left a lasting impact on viewers. Filmmakers/directors have explored the psyche of serial killers through various characters. These characters have been portrayed with a range of motivations, from revenge and obsession to mental illness and societal pressure. Through their hard-hitting portrayal of serial killers and psychopaths , the filmmakers have left audience terrified and scared. Here are six of the most terrifying psychopaths and serial killers from Bollywood films that have send shivers down your spine: 1 Lajja Shankar Pandey from Sangharsh The antagonist, Lajja Shankar Pandey from…
Sleep and Seniors
Friends, as we age, our sleep patterns change, and most seniors complain about lack of sleep. As per the studies conducted, it has been found that up to 70% of older adults have chronic sleep issues. Ageing does affect sleep. But people must understand what happens and find workarounds to fall asleep. Understanding the impact of age on sleep Our body has an internal clock called circadian rhythm that impacts many bodily functions, including sleep. A small part of our brain’s hypothalamus region controls this. As we age, the cells in this region weaken and affect the functioning of the circadian rhythm. One of the ways to keep these cells healthy is to get sufficient exposure to sunlight. As we age, changes in our body’s hormone production affect our sleep. Apart from this, health conditions like diabetes, heart issues, arthritis, anxiety, etc., and a few prescription medicines can also affect…

The Movies-Nobody Wanted
In today’s weekend blog, I am writing on Bollywood. Recently, Bollywood has shown a lack of concern for quality content. Driven solely by numbers, Bollywood excessively focused on box-office collections, disregarding the importance of well-written scripts and fascinating movies. From dull script to regressive and toxic characters, certain movies should have been discarded during the discussion phase only. Given below are some of recent Bollywood movies that they should have never been made: 1 Student of the Year 2 (2019)- The plot of this movie makes no sense. Two girls- Tara Sutaria and Ananya Pandey-fight the eternal female battle over one guy-Tiger Shroff. With no focus on education, every character is dressed like model. Just because it was backed by Dharma Productions (Karan Johar’s banner) with nepo kids, it doesn’t mean the world can’t live without this stupid and faltu movie. 2 Kalank (2019)- Another multi-starrer by Karan Johar that…
Changing Times
If you are not ready to adapt to the changes around you, you will certainly be left behind in life’s race. This is also true for the companies and their products, if with CHANGING TIMES the companies do not modify/change their products then it is sure that the product will lose its market share and slowly it will fade out. Here are some cases of the past and some present and future scenarios: 1 Till 1998 Kodak was the number one company in the photography business, and they were selling 85% of the photographic paper, and at that time their employee strength was more than 170,000. But within the next few years, the company went bankrupt, why?, because with the advent of digital photography, the old photography system went for a toss, and Kodak company was very slow to react and did not change their technology to suit digital photography….
