Today I am writing a blog that is definitely meant for young people who have turned 30, seniors might be able to relate to this article as after reading they will realize that they have gone through and faced the situations mentioned in this article, if not they can advise their younger ones about what is written here. Turning 30 can be intimidating and frightening to some people, as it’s a major milestone that marks the gateway to one’s middle years. In addition to the anxiety that some people experience when turning 30, society has programmed many to believe that they need to have achieved X number of things by this age. By this age, many feel that they are expected to be married/partnered, have started a family, or be firmly settled in careers. Here are a few errors that many make once they turn 30: 1 Assuming that their…

Hearing Loss-Seniors
In today’s blog, I am writing about HEARING LOSS IN SENIORS, and if you go by medical science hearing loss caused due to old age is known as ‘Presbycusis’. Studies have shown that one in five people over the age of sixty is afflicted with some sort of hearing problem. Seniors suffering from presbycusis often are not able to recognize that they are suffering, because of the gradual nature of the condition. Given below are five signs of hearing loss you should ignore, and are some medical conditions, which may lead to this condition: 1 You find it hard to make out certain sounds With age, it can be difficult to distinguish between certain sounds, especially high-pitched sounds like ‘sh’ or ‘th’. Experts say that when you can hear vowels but not consonants, it sounds like people are not speaking clearly, but the actual fact is, there is hearing loss….
Same Sex Marriage-India
India does not recognize SAME-SEX MARRIAGE or civil unions, though same-sex couples can attain the rights and benefits as a live-in couple, as per the Supreme Court of India (SC) landmark decision in August 2022. Presently, SC is hearing petitions filed by various people, including those belonging to LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans sexual, and Queer) community and gay couples for allowing same-sex marriages. SC had asked the government’s opinion on this matter. The Central government’s affidavit filed in the SC, states that “ the SC’s 2018 verdict to de-criminalise homosexuality does not confer any right to the LGBTQ community to claim legal recognition for same-sex marriages”. The Central Government’s opposition to legal recognition for same-sex marriage states that “ there is much legislation pertaining to adoption, maintenance, rape, dowry, prohibition, cruelty etc, that recognize only heterosexual couples and these laws can not be applicable in same-sex marriage as it…
Important Observations
Recently I came across a few news items, which caught my attention, and would like to share the same with you. 1 This news item is about what happened in Nashik’s session court yesterday. The court convicted and sentenced an MLA from Achalpur Omprakash alias Baburao Kadu to one-year imprisonment each on two charges of assault on a public servant and intentional insult in July 2017. The sentences are to run concurrently. He was charged under section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servants from discharge of duty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The said incident happened, when Kadu was at the Nashilk Municipal Corporation (NMC), making representation on behalf of his organization, which works for the disabled. During the meeting, Nashik civic chief asked Kadu to sit on a chair in front of disabled persons present there. Kadu then abused the civic chief. Soon after the…
Indian Polity 3
Last week, I wrote a blog on Indian Polity where I mentioned national and state-level political parties, and what are the criteria for getting recognition as a political party from the Election Commission of India. We have 9 national-level and 55 state-level parties. Now, why have so many political parties mushroomed in the country? To find the answer to this question we have to go back into the history of India after independence. If I recall correctly, at the time of independence there were two major political parties in the country, the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Communist Party of India (CPI), and many of the political parties which emerged afterward are mainly offshoots of these parties only. Most of the leaders who participated in the freedom struggle were associated with Congress in one capacity or other. Here are a few incidents which led to the formation of new…
Prostate Health
Friends, today I am writing about a health-related issue which is generally with men of 40+ years of age. But it will help even women who know a man of 40+ years, who could be a father, husband, brother, uncle, colleague, friend etc. The health topic is PROSTATE HEALTH. Only men have a prostate, and generally when men cross 40 years of age the problems related to prostate start. What is the background on prostate health? Every day your blood passes through the kidney several times to be filtered. As the blood is filtered, urine is formed and stored in a temporary storage tank called the urinary bladder. The function of the urinary bladder is to hold the urine, and when it is full the urge for urination starts.. In the men’s body, there is a pipe that runs from the urinary bladder to the tip of the penis and…
Bollywood- Dumbass
In this weekend’s blog, I am writing about some DUMBASS CHARACTERS seen in Bollywood movies, these characters redefined stupidity. The unintentional brainlessness displayed by these characters guaranteed a chuckle or two, and you cursed the writer/director team who wanted us to believe these characters. Here is the list of such dumbass characters seen in Bollywood films: 1 Abhishek Bachchan’s Jai Dixit from the ‘Dhoom series’ You know someone is a special kind of stupid when there is another dumbass character played by Uday Chopra (Ali) who thinks he is smarter than Jai Dixit. Abhishek Bachchan plays that doomed police officer whose only function is to be awful at his job. He is a captain clueless-who has the unique talent of never catching criminals. 2 Anushka Sharma as Taani from ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ Taani does not realize her boyfriend, with whom she is having an extramarital affair, is actually…
Indian Polity
Indian politics has a multi-party system. The Election Commission of India (ECI) accords recognition to the national level and state-level political parties. A party is recognized as a national party only if it fulfils any one of the three conditions listed below: The party win 2% of seats in the Lok Sabha from at least three states. At a general election to Lok Sabha or Legislative Assembly, the party polls 6% of votes in any four or more states and in addition, it wins four Lok Sabha seats. The party gets recognition as a state party in four states. There are nine national parties, and they are 1 All India Trinamool Congress (TMC)- Its political position is Centre-Left, ideology is Secularism, Progressivism, and populism. Founded in 1998, its leader is Mamta Banerjee. They govern in one state, ie West Bengal. They have 23/543 seats in Lok Sabha, 13/245 in Rajya…
Coalition Government
The Indian political scene is getting hotter as the next general election is only one year away, and all the opposition parties are searching for some formula so that Modi’s government at the Centre can be dislodged. But all of them are aware, that is a very tall order to defeat the NDA government headed by Modi, and daily you hear and read that all these parties are suggesting that there should be unity in opposition to fight the next election. But the problem with the opposition parties is that there are too many aspirants for the PM’s post, there is Mamta Banerjee, Nitish Kumar, Sharad Pawar, Akhilesh Yadav, Arvind Kejriwal, and Rahul Gandhi. Presently these parties are holding some 100+ seats in Lok Sabha, and they are hoping they can get 280+ seats to form the government. But if you go to the past history of Indian politics, whenever…
Veg-Non Veg
When it comes to food, the world population is mainly divided into two categories, that is Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian. However, if you pay close attention, in today’s world, the lines between these two categories have become quite blurred. In reality, quite a few delicacies that are usually deemed to be vegetarian have the presence of non-vegetarian elements in them. Here is the list of a few such foods, which as per textbook recipe are generally having non-vegetarian elements in them: 1Naan Well, all naans do not fall into this category, but most authentic naan recipes add eggs while kneading the dough. Eggs provide more elasticity to the bread and make it soft. So friends, if you are a strict vegetarian then please check before ordering this item in any restaurant. 2 Cheese We Indians have taken to using cheese in our dishes to make them A NOTCH YUMMIER. You have…
