So, yesterday Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case relating to Delhi State’s excise policy 2021-22. I am not going into the details of that policy and what happened last year from August onwards in this case. In this connection please refer to my earlier blog https://dailyhappenings.in/liquor-policy-aap/ which was published on 22nd August 2022. According to CBI, Manish Sisodia was arrested because of his involvement in the destruction of evidence. The arrest is in connection with alleged corruption in the implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi liquor policy 2021-22. He was arrested under sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 477 A (intent to defraud) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Section 7 of the Prevention of corruption act. Bollywood – Relatable Females
Friends, in today’s weekend blog I am still with Bollywood. Generally, Bollywood is perceived as a men’s world, and most of the time you are bound to see strong male characters in the movies. Bollywood mostly develops its female characters as love interests or arm candies. But certain movies in recent times have managed to break the tried and tested regressive structure of Bollywood and presented some really relatable female characters. These female characters turned out to be so much relatable that we could easily understand their ideology, thought processes, and actions. Here are some of the relatable female characters that made us say, these persons are there in real life also: 1 Rani (Kangana Ranaut) in Queen People could relate so much to Rani’s inspiring journey of self-discovery. How her fledging confidence grew over the course of the movie, as she owns up to her life, makes us remember…
SC and UBT
Friends, a few days back I wrote on Election Commission (EC) declaring the group led by Eknath Shinde is Shiv Sena and restored the symbol of Bow and arrow to them. Whereas the group led by Uddhav Thackeray will be known as Shiv Sena (UBT). Against this order of EC Uddhav Thackeray group filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC) to stay this order of EC. Yesterday, the SC heard this matter by a bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices PS Narsimha and JB Pardiwal. After hearing from the Counsels of the Uddhav Thackeray group, the bench gave the following order: SC rejects plea to stay the EC’s decision to allot the ‘Shiv Sena’ name and ‘bow and arrow’ symbol to Eknath Shinde-led group. SC does not restrain the Shinde group from taking over the assets and bank accounts of Shiv Sena. Uddhav Thackeray group can…
Understanding GDP
When the national economy is being discussed, often one term comes into the limelight, and that is Gross Domestic Product or GDP. This is a commonly used measure of the strength of an economy. When it is going up, the economy is getting stronger. When it falls, the economy is moving toward recession. What Is GDP? It measures the value of every good and service that an economy produces. Generally, it is used to measure national production over the course of a year. The higher a country’s GDP, the stronger economy is because it produces goods and services with higher value. Calculating the value of absolutely everything an economy produces is complicated and there are multiple different ways to calculate GDP. Different Types of GDP GDP is used for many purposes, such as comparing the economy of two countries or tracking changes in the size of the economy. To help…
EC-Shiv Sena
Friends, you all are aware that in June 2022 a split happened in Shiv Sena, which is a regional political party of Maharashtra. Eknath Shinde with 40 MLAs (from the total of 55 MLAs) rebelled against Shiv Sena party President Uddhav Thackeray, which was followed by high drama. At the end of this episode, Eknath Shinde and his group formed the government in Maharashtra with the support of the BJP. This split in the party and the manner in which it happened caught Uddhav Thackeray off guard, and he had to step down from the post of CM, which he had occupied with the support of Congress and NCP. After the split matter went to The Election Commission of India (EC) for deciding who heads the real Shiv Sena. Both Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde claimed that their party is real Shiv Sena. The EC in November 2022, froze the…
Progressive Films
Bollywood is famous for making films based on a set formula that guarantees to bring in hard cash. Even if the formula supports regressive, sexiest, and misogynist mindsets. But there are some films when you see them, you feel they are progressive, and the filmmakers who have made them have taken a bold stand. These filmmakers have not shied away from giving us PROGRESSIVE FILMS that made Bollywood cinema watchable and forward-thinking. Here are a few of the Progressive Films, which graced the screen in recent times: 1 Masaan (2015) The film makes a bold attempt to deal with the punishing caste system with great sensitivity. Power-packed with top–notch performances by Vicky Kaushal and Richa Chadda. True Personality
Friends, did you know there are things that can reveal your TRUE PERSONALITY in an instant? They are little things you should look out for! Here are few key little things to think about: 1 How open you are to new ideas Suppose you go to restaurant, and without opening menu you say I know what I like and will order the same. In other words, you want to say, I like to stick to what I know and what I like. What does this mean? It means that you are not willing to try some new preparation. This only means that you are not open to new ideas. You never know if you had tried some new dish/preparation, it might have been even better than what you usually have. Open-mindedness is an amazing lens that makes the world appear more vibrant and filled with possibilities. 2 What your spending…

Indian Judiciary
For the last few months we are hearing/reading much more about INDIAN JUDICIARY, and the primary reason is that the Supreme Court and the High Courts cases are given very much importance in the print and other media. Sometimes I wonder, these judges are also public servants, whose salaries and other perks are being paid by the taxpayers of the country. But they do not behave and act like a salaried person, in the present scenario they behave like they are above all in the country and nobody should question them. Given below are a few points, to illustrate that presently they are not in the same league as other pubic salaried class people: 1 Have you ever heard that any other wing of the Government of India goes on summer and winter vacations? Presently The Supreme Court is having two long vacations which are around 7 weeks of summer…
