Today is Friday, and it is time for my weekend blog. Back with Bollywood- Friends the relationship between Bollywood celebrities can’t be predicted easily. It does not matter how much cooler and smart they look on screen, but it is not sure they are that much cooler in their relationship off-screen. There are times when the actors rejected the movie because they do not like their co-stars. In these types of cases depending upon the producer/director either one of the actors is replaced, if the other co-star cannot be replaced then it has happened many times the said celebrity star has left that particular movie. When it comes to doing any movie, many stars are very selective. Here are a few such cases: 1 Kareena Kapoor- Emraan Hashmi The Begum of Bollywood has always been very choosy about her costars. Right at the beginning of her career, she announced that…

Genius People
Friends, we come across many people in our lifetime who are considered to be GENIUS. Actually, there are some little-known signs that could mark you as a genius, or at least part of the way there. Let us take a look at those signs: 1 You don’t fit in a box Of all the signs you are actually a genius (even if you do not think so) this ranks number one. You think uniquely and approach problems and solutions in a way that surprises and sometimes even confuses those around you. You think differently, and in life, you are at a place that is uniquely all your own. Not every genius is Albert Einstein. Some invent new ways to grow food and exist in nature, while others philosophize to find out the core of how existence really works. 2 You have endless curiosity Another sign of being a genius is…
BBC Documentary
Recently there has been a controversy over the BBC documentary in which they have shown the footage of the Gujarat riots of 2002, and what happened afterward. This documentary is trying to put the blame on the massacre which happened after the Godhra Train incident where more than 50 Hindus were burnt alive by the mob of the minority community, on the state government led by Narendra Modi as Chief Minister. The reality is that this happened about 21 years back, and Narendra Modi was blamed by these pseudo-secular political parties and people for these riots for more than a decade, till the Supreme Court of India absolved Narendra Modi of all charges framed against him by various central government agencies and NGOs. Presently this documentary has been banned by the Government of India, but it is still being screened by various political parties and other organizations opposed to the…

Toughest Sport -Tennis
Friends, do you know one of the most popular sports, as per experts is also the toughest one, and that sport is TENNIS? Here are a few reasons which show why this sport is the toughest and most psychologically demanding sport, especially for the players who are playing single matches, for playing double matches, one still has the emotional support of the partner player: 1 Tennis is an individual sport Here you are all alone on the court. No one to share your glory or the blame. There is no provision, if you are playing poorly then you can not be taken out of the game for a while so that you can recuperate. 2 Intense pressure at a young age Many successful professional players have reported that the stresses of junior tennis were the greatest of their entire careers. The junior player must deal with the same frustrations during…
Passive Euthanasia
A week back, I had written about how the Supreme Court (SC) is reconsidering its decision on the procedural guidelines for PASSIVE EUTHANASIA for terminally ill patients, who in medical terms have no chance of recovery. They had admonished the Central government for not bringing the law on passive euthanasia, as mentioned in their order of August 2018 on this issue. Now yesterday (24th January 2023), the SC agreed to issue a revised order on the subject of passive euthanasia. A Constitution Bench of the SC consisting of five judges agreed that modifications are required to be made to the guidelines for the Living Will/Advance Medical Directive that was issued by the SC in the earlier judgment recognizing passive euthanasia. The said bench was considering a Miscellaneous Application filed by the Indian Council for Critical care Medicine, seeking modifications in the guidelines. To make India’s Living Will process—an advanced written…
Recent News Items
Friends, you must have observed that my writings on political happenings is reduced in the recent past. The primary reason being there has not been much political happening which incited me to write on that particular subject. In my today’s blog, I am writing about a few political and other items, which attracted my attention recently: 1 Rahul Gandhi As you all are aware for the last 4 months Rahul Gandhi is on the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” which started in Kerala and has now reached Jammu & Kashmir. The Congress party wants us to believe that he is doing this full yatra by walking all the distance, whereas the fact is that during the day he walks for a few km with his followers, and then travels by luxury air-conditioned Vanity van-type bus. During the course of this yatra, he almost daily gives interviews and gives some statements which according…
Confident People
CONFIDENT PEOPLE have a particular set of habits and traits. They are not arrogant, but they have a particular air about them. So what are these traits which other people want to emulate? A few of these traits are listed below 1 They are decisive A confident person is likely to decide on something and set their mind to it. When a confident person decides they want to do something, nothing stands between them and their goal. They have confidence in their decision-making and they don’t second-guess whether they are making the right decision. 2 They don’t need others’ approval A confident person doesn’t feel the need to go around and take everyone else’s opinion. They do not need to get approval before they do something, as they trust in themselves which means they do not need approval from others. 3 They stick things out Even when things get tough,…
Offbeat Romantic Films
In this weekend’s blog, I am on Bollywood. In Hindi films, it seems that romance has run its course. All possible angles have been tried out and tested. Boy meets girl, they fall in love, battle society or family, and live or die together in the end. Boy and girl fall in love, but they are not sure if they want to take this relationship forward and thus battle with their internal demons rather than external forces. Love triangles, tragedies, one-sided love, long-distance relationships, mature women inspiring man-child to find himself-Bollywood has done that. However, every now and then one comes across a film that breaks long-held stereotypes of Bollywood romance and challenges our own understanding of love. Here are a few such OFFBEAT ROMANTIC FILMS: 1 Once Again This 2018 film directed by Kanwal Sethi, is about two middle-aged people who give love a second chance. Amar (Neeraj Kabi)…
