Friends, we all must  have gone through the experience of when your near and dear one is admitted to hospital for some surgery, or is involved in accident and has lost lots of blood. First thing the medical staff of hospital informs the patient’s relatives or friends that arrange for so many units of blood from the blood bank of the hospital or from private blood banks. Most of the times the blood banks have the required group blood, but before issuing the blood they ask the concerned persons to arrange for donors to replace the blood. This practice of asking blood replacement is going on for decades  in all of the blood banks across the country. Medical Gaslighting

While going through today’s newspaper, I came across a term called “MEDICAL GASLIGHTING”. I had never heard of this term before, so tried to find out more about this term, which I want to share with you all. Medical Gaslighting is a term used to describe doctors or medical practitioners who wrongly blame a ‘patient’s illness or symptoms on psychological factors, or deny a patient’s illness entirely, like wrongly telling the patient they are not sick. Gaslighting refers to the type of manipulation where the intent is to lead someone to question their own experiences, memory, or perceptions. It is also viewed as emotional abuse. The effects of gaslighting are that people often begin to question their own reality or may feel crazy, particularly if the person gaslighting them has the greater authority or personal power. Now in medical cases, people feel that as doctors have more knowledge on the…

Low Budget Hit Films

In the present times the film making business in Bollywood is becoming riskier, as now no film maker can guarantee the success of films. Many times a film made with big budget and big star cast  fails to impress the audience, and the film flops miserably. In the last few years trend is changing, and some low budget films are collecting a good revenue at the box office. Take the film ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, it did not have big names, but the critics and audience applauded the film, and it ended up grossing over Rs 150 Cr at the box office. Rom Coms

In today’s weekend blog, I am back to Bollywood, and I am talking about Romantic Comedy (ROM-COM) films. We all have a complicated relationship with rom-coms. They are easy to watch and distract us from the intense monotony of daily life. At the same time, most of them set unrealistic standards for love and relationship. Over the last few decades, Bollywood has given us many iconic rom-coms . These films always have catchy music with evergreen songs. Here are 10 rom-com films that stood the test of time: 1 Jab We Met More than their meeting inside a train, the irony of this film’s lead couple splitting right after the release makes it memorable. Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor broke up after several years of dating and this film gave us all the chance to see them together last time. Not to forget it gave us iconic songs like Mauja…

FIFA-AIFF

In India, till a few years back most sports associations in India were controlled by politicians, who used to hold the post of chairman/president or secretary of a particular sports association for many many years and even decades, and this resulted in the lowering of standards of sports persons. A few years back Supreme Court intervened, and it was decided no person can hold any post in any sports association for more than three terms, and not more than two consecutive terms in any post. Actually, all this started when there was a betting scandal in IPL cricket matches a few years back. There is news today that the All Indian Football Federation (AIFF) has been suspended by the Federation of Internationale Football Association (FIFA) for “undue interference by the third party”. This is because since 18th May 2022 AIFF is run by a three-member committee of administration (COA), and…
