Nowadays it has become very common in political scenarios that the parties break the alliances at the drop of hat, even when they have fought the elections after forming a pre poll alliance. This is definitely a betrayal committed by the political parties with their voters, who voted them to power as an alliance partner. Secondly, there are many instances when elected representatives break away from the parties on whose ticket and name they were elected, this is also a betrayal because voters elected them on the basis of which political party they belong to. Here are some of the instances of Unholy alliances which happened in Parliament and State Assemblies: 1Break Up of Janata Party- After the emergency was lifted by then PM Indira Gandhi and general elections were announced in 1977. Many political parties like Socialist Parties, Jan Sangh, and some left parties formed an alliance which was…

Kapil Sibal-SC
In today’s newspapers, there is one news item that caught my eye, is about Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate of the Supreme Court (SC). His comments on SC judges and the working of SC really took everyone by surprise. He has been practicing in SC for more than 4 decades, and when he is nearing 80 making these comments shows that after making his career and earning crores of Rupees from his legal practice, he is choosing to comment now when some of the verdicts given by the SC judges have gone against his clients. Kapil Sibal was speaking on some forum about “ Judicial Rollback of Civil Liberties”, and there he made the remark that “ If you think you will get from relief from SC, you are hugely mistaken. And I am saying this after completing 50 years of practicing in SC”. He further added that “even…
Money Mistakes-Couples
Money problems are one of the biggest relationship killers, and the leading cause of divorce in modern times when both partners are earning. There are many mistakes that couples make, these mistakes can be avoided which will create healthier relationships and improve the financial situation. Listed below are a few of the money mistakes couples make: 1 Only One Of The Spouse Does The Finances This is one of the most common money mistakes. Here one partner is taking care of all the finances, bills, and anything related to money, while the other takes a backseat. This strategy may seem to work for some, but it does more harm in the long run. Here is why- It creates a big financial knowledge gap between the couple. If one in charge of the finances falls ill or passes away, then the other partner will have a very hard time. It discourages…
Favourite TV Shows
In my today’s weekend blog I am writing about shows on TV. We might have fallen out of love with Indian TV, because of regressive shows, but that was not the reality two decades back. Taking you down memory lane, here are some of the best Hindi TV shows that made us fall in love with Indian TV. 1 Sarabhai vs Sarabhai One of the funniest shows ever on Indian TV. This family comedy show with power-packed performances and clean humour touched our hearts and made us fall in love with the characters. What a performance by lead actors Ratna Pathak Shah, Rupali Ganguly and Satish Shah. 2 Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi This serial is from the time when there was only Doordarshan for Indian TV viewers. It showed the life of middle class couple in their daily routine. Each episode had different story. Wonderful performances by Shafi Inamdaar, Swaroop…
Stress Management-Seniors
One thing which is not given any importance is the STRESS MANAGEMENT of the seniors. Most people think as seniors are retired, therefore they must be free from stress. They would have most probably completed all their duties that usually put people under stress, like educating children, settling them in their life, and saving up for retirement life. This is the general perception that most people carry with them. Seniors themselves may not realize that they are not paying attention to their mental health, nor would the younger ones in the house, realize this. Most often, we talk a lot about maintaining physical health in old age and totally ignore the psychological aspect of aging. The Stress Factors The seniors are usually plagued by issues concerning decreased self-image that happens due to aging, changed body appearance, illness, pain, fear, apathy, anxiety, feeling of helplessness, etc. This could be more so,…
Positive Attitude
Recently I read something on social media which I would like to share with you all. It is about POSITIVE ATTITUDE. What is a positive attitude- it has been explained very nicely in the story given below: A guy called Suresh is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in good mood, and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, “ If I were any better, I would be twins. He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Suresh was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation. Seeing this style really made all very curious, so one day someone named Ramesh went up to him and asked “ How you can be a positive person all of the time, and how do you…
Muslim Singing Bhajan
In today’s newspapers, there is a news item regarding a Muslim singer Farmani Naaz. She is very famous on YouTube where she posts her singing videos. Now Farmani Naaz’s rendition of a bhajan song praising the Hindu deity Shiva has earned her the scorn of Muslim fundamentalists. The song was posted by her on YouTube on 24th July 2022 and has more than 700,000 views so far. A Muslim organization from Deoband has warned her that singing the song praising the deity of other religions is un-Islamic. Her followers have started posting messages in support of the singer her on-page, even as clerics call for the boycott of practices that are un-Islamic. Deoband-based cleric Mufti Asad Qasami has quoted, which has been reported on several media platforms, that singing is not permitted under Sharia law. He suggested that singing any song is ‘haram’ or forbidden in Islam, and she has…
Gavaskar-Greatest
In today’s weekend blog, I am back on cricket. There have been many batsmen who seem to be great batsmen, maybe because of total runs scored, better average, and their good performances in One Day Cricket, T20 cricket, and Test cricket. But if you take cricket as a gentleman’s game, you will find only two batsmen who can be considered the greatest, the first one is Don Bradman of Australia, and the second is India’s Sunil Gavaskar. Some might say why not Sachin Tendulkar in this list, as he has scored most runs and centuries in Test and One Day cricket. But most of the cricket critics and experts are of the opinion that SUNIL GAVASKAR has to be the greatest, because Don Bradman in his era only played most of his Test cricket against England, while Gavaskar has played against all the Test playing nations during his playing years….
PMLA
In recent times there have been allegations by many opposition parties that Central Government led by BJP is misusing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and harassing/questioning/arresting their political leaders, and this is a form of political vendetta. Most of these leaders are being questioned under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). There were more than 200 petitions filed in various courts of the country against the amendments made to PMLA, which gave the ED and government virtually unbridled power of summons, arrest, and raids and makes bail nearly impossible while shifting the burden of proving innocence on to the accused rather than prosecution. In the end, Supreme Court (SC) clubbed all the petitions, and the case was heard. There are many political leaders who are either on bail or still in custody on various money laundering charges, they include Mehbooba Mufti, veteran Congress leader P Chidambaram and his son, Anil…
Irrational Freebies
In January advocate Ashwini Upadhyay filed a petition in The Supreme Court (SC) stating that the Election Commission of India (ECI) should bar the state and national political parties from giving freebies. He further added that the ECI should add additional conditions to recognize the political parties at the state and national levels. There should be a reasonable promise when the total debt of the States is nearing Rs 70 lac Crore. This petition had urged the SC to declare that; The promise of irrational freebies from the public funds before an election unduly influences voters, disturbs the level playing field, shakes the roots of free-fair elections, and loss of the purity of the election process. Promise/distribution of private goods/services, which are not for public purposes, from public funds violates the Constitution of India. Promise/distribution of irrational freebies from the public fund before the election to lure voters is a…
