In today’s weekend blog, I am back with Bollywood.
Friends, life’s too short to be gloomy and intense most of the time. So if you are in the mood for some chuckles and LOL moments, look no further! Here are Bollywood’s BEST COMEDY MOVIES of recent times.
Here is the list of the top 15 best comedy movies of recent times:
1 Hera Pheri Series
The iconic trio of Raju (Akshay Kumar), Shyam (Sunil Shetty), and Baburao (Paresh Rawal) need no introduction. Their wretched plans of making easy money always get tangled up in a mess of their own stupidity, lack of coordination, and multiple groups of antagonists. Literally, every generation has grown up watching these. Hera Pheri 3 is now under production.
2 Andaz Apna Apna 1994
The 90’s multi-starrer is kind of classic comedy that can be watched and re watched zillion times without getting bored. Middle-class Amar (Aamir Khan) and Prem (Salman Khan) compete for the love of millionaire’s daughter Raveena, in the most hilarious ways.
3 Gol Maal 1979
A classic comedy with an airtight script and some hilarious moments. Apart from the funny parts, the humour is also sensible (a quality most modern- day comedy lack). Ramprasad (Amol Palekar), his fake twin and his boss Bhavani Prasad (Utpal Dutt) will make your movie night a complete riot.
4 Fukrey 2013
The plans of four friends-Honey, Choocha, Lali and Zafar- who want to make easy money, get bombarded with unprecedented turn of events. A refreshing take on urban middle-class youth with some seriously LOL moments and a promising performance by entire cast.
5 Chup Chup Ke 2006
This is second best movie of Kareena and Shahid duo after Jab We Met. The movie is as witty and hilarious as a Priyadarshan movie gets.!
6 Bhagam Bhag 2006
Just like the name suggests, this movie is a hysterical tale of three theatre performers running round and round in the labyrinth of murder and mishaps. Three of comedy’s kings-Paressh Rawal, Govinda, and Akshay Kumar come together for this one, so there is no doubt it’s going to be funny as hell.
7 Munna Bhai M B B S 2003
Munna and Circuit’s ( Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi) rib-tickling Jodi is a comedy-drama with just right amount of masala and romance. No wonder, it’s achieved a cult status followed by an equally hilarious sequel Lage Raho Munna Bhai.
8 Coolie No. 1 1995
Has to be one of the best comedies of all times. Coolie No. 1 is the perfect twisted tale of impersonation, lies, and whole lot of laughter moments. Govind and Karisma set the box office on fire with their on-screen chemistry and it’s comic-timing is still appreciated.
9 Hungama 2003
This one is 100% comedy and nothing else! No matter how many times one watches this movie, it just never gets boring or annoying. Hungama actually makes us nostalgic about the good old comedies of 2000’s comedies without an entourage of a 100 actors, senseless overlapping storylines, and the bad humour that followed in movies post this era.
10 Chachi 420 1997
This critically acclaimed comedy-drama is the perfect balance of emotion ang gags. Kamal Hasan is just sensational as Chachi and the supporting cast does a pretty amazing job too.
11 Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2007
Probably the first of its kind, this film amalgamated both comedy and horror in the most unexpected of ways and we have ace director Priyadarshan to thank for it.
12 Bade Miyan Chote Miyan 1998
It would be an utter shame if you call yourself a Bollywood buff and have not watched this movie. Watching Arjun (Amitabh Bachchan) and Pyare (Govinda) catch their criminal lookalikes is a riot. It’s illogical and extremely funny-a complete Bollywood masala movie.
13 Vicky Donor 2012
Ayushmann Khuranna’s breakthrough into Bollywood. It is an unusually funny movie with an equally unconventional plot. It will make your jaws ache with laughing too hard while also busting taboos around sperm banks, sexuality, and sexual health.
14 Delhi Belly 2011
A film worth last penny, it is downright sensible as well as hilarious. The performances by Tashi (Imran Khan), Arup (Vir Das) and Nitin (Kunal Roy Kapoor) is absolutely flawless and the plot hysterical.
15 Go Goa Gone 2013
Bollywood’s first full-fledged zombie may not have been taken seriously but honestly, it wasn’t meant to be. This movie is every bit chuckle-inducing in the most millennial way and it’s adult content is very enjoyable.
There are some other old comedy movies like Chupke Chupke, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Pyar Kiye Ja (especially for Kishore Kumar, Mehmood and Om Prakash), Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, and Padosan, they are still worth watching.
