In today’s weekend blog I am back to Bollywood.
In the year 2022, the business of Bollywood films is not having a good run at the box office. Most of the films with big star casts and high budgets are flopping. Even last week’s release Brahamastra, which is made on the budget of more than Rs 500 Cr is having a mixed report, and as per the latest reports, the film may not be able to recover its production cost. Recently many big-budget movies flopped at the box office miserably. Be it Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, Dhakkad, or Shamshera. Many films failed to leave any impact on the audience.
In the midst of Bollywood thought obsession with big-budget movies, here are some high-budget movies that Bollywood thought would create havoc at the box office but failed miserably.
1 Mohenjo Daro
Starring Hrithik Roshan, this movie was created on a massive budget of Rs 138 Cr. This period film, before its release, created a lot of hype. But unfortunately, the audience rejected this movie. This movie managed to collect only Rs 74 Cr nationwide.
2 Jagga Jassos
Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, the movie was made on an overall budget of Rs 131 Cr. This adventure comedy was about a gifted teenage detective, who along with a female companion, is on the quest to find his missing father. The audience did not like the movie, and it could garner only Rs 70 Cr nationwide.
3 Jab Harry Met Sejal
Another big-budget movie that left the audience disappointed with this film even though it starred Shah Rukh Khan & Anushka Sharma. Made on the budget of Rs120 Cr, the movie collected only Rs 80 Cr.
4 Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan
This Akshay Kumar starrer made the headlines for the wrong reasons. For multiple blunders and inappropriate casting, the movie was trolled more than it was watched. The movie made on the budget of Rs 200 Cr managed to collect only Rs 68 Cr nationwide.
5 Zero
Another Shah Rukh- Anushka starrer that left the audience hugely disappointed. The audience rejected the superstar movie so miserably that it merely managed to collect Rs 90 Cr nationwide against the budget of Rs 200 Cr.
6 Bombay Velvet
One of the most hyped recent movies of Bollywood, this Ranbir-Anushka starrer only collected Rs 30 Cr against the massive budget of Rs118 Cr. This movie was brutally rejected by the audience and that is quite evident in its box-office collection.
7 Ra One
This Shah Rukh starrer was made at a budget of whooping Rs 130 Cr. The movie managed to collect only Rs 114 Cr nationwide. While the movie recovered 80% of the budget, its producer and main star Shah Rukh was miserably trolled.
You must have observed that all the above movies are with big star casts, and are made on a big budget, but the contents of these movies were totally rejected by the audience. The superstars of Bollywood should realize now that those days are over when the films were hit just because of their presence in them. Now audiences want better story content, and fresh ideas to impress them, and they are not satisfied with the presence of their loved stars in the film.
Waiting for your views on this blog.
