1 Maggi Case– You must be aware that Maggi is very popular among Kids and lazy people as it can be cooked in just 2 minutes, but can you imagine that Maggi can end relationships? A divorce case was filed in Ballari, Karnataka where a man filed for divorce from his wife because she allegedly only served Maggi to him for meals. He accused his wife does not know cooking, and only knowing how to prepare Maggi, hence it is noodles for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The couple eventually got divorced on mutual consent.

The issue came to light after the wife filed a complaint with the women’s protection cell, in a bid to save her marriage. The woman had expressed her wish to continue her two years old marriage, and live a happy life with him. However, the husband repeatedly and firmly wanted to end the marriage. The case is still going on.

The song ‘Mesaytara’- which translates to ‘I am dominant’ or ‘I will control you’ hurt the groom and he decided to divorce at the wedding hall itself. The first part song roughly says ‘I am dominant; you will be governed by my strict instructions’. ‘You are a lump of sugar; As long as you are with me, you will walk under my command; I am arrogant, I am arrogant’ the song goes on. Afterwards, the groom and his family entered into an argument with his bride and ended up divorcing her.

4 When a man divorced the same wife four times for paid leaves– Taiwan where the divorce takes only a few hours to materialize, a man married the same woman four times and divorced her thrice in a span of 37 days, so he could get his paid leave extended. According to Article 2 of the Labour  Leave Rules, employees are entitled to eight days of paid leave when they get married in the country. The man’s employer approved an eight-day leave for the first marriage, and he got married on 6th April 2022. However, once his marriage leave was over, he divorced his wife and married her again the next day to ask for another paid leave, and he repeated this four times and divorced her three times, doing this he managed to get 32 days’ leaves. When the employer got to know about this they refused to grant him extra paid leaves and said 24 days will be unpaid leaves. In her plea, she mentioned that I am feeling suffocated in such an environment. Meanwhile, the husband said he always wanted to keep his wife happy and requested the Sharia Court to return the case. Then the court asked the couple to resolve the matter mutually.

6 When a woman sought divorce from her husband because he was preparing for UPSC– Cracking a UPSC exam is not a joke, the person has to dedicate his/her maximum time to the preparations and even keep away from the world. In 2019 a woman in Bhopal moved to the local family court seeking divorce on the grounds that her husband who is preparing for the UPSC exam does not give her time. According to her counsellor, the woman has alleged that her husband remains so lost in his studies that he does not speak to her at all, and he refuses to go out even shopping. The husband’s contention was that it is his childhood dream to crack the UPSC exam, and also agreed that his marital life is unstable and he does not it to get more complicated. After hearing both sides, the couple was asked to take some more time and reconsider their decision.

7 When a man was seeking a divorce from his wife for laddoo’s– We all have heard this line “ Shaadi ka laddu jo khaye wo pachtaye aur jo na khaye wo bhi pachtaye”, and it is perfectly matching on the incident when a man from Meerut (UP) wanted to end a 10 years old marriage on the grounds that his wife under the influence of a ‘tantrik’, was giving him only laddoos to eat nothing else. This incident came into the limelight when the man approached the family court in August 2019, where he said on the instructions of the tantric his wife gave him four laddoos to eat in the morning and four in the evening. He was not allowed to eat anything else in between. The outcome of this case is still not known.
