A – There are some Bollywood characters that many hate fiercely because of how they were presented onscreen These characters were so over the top they left us irritated and disgusted. All these characters had two aspects in common-an overdose of unwarranted attitude and exaggerated acting. While the makers thought the audience would love these characters, they rejected them immediately. Here are some of Bollywood characters of recent times who overacted and left us irritated:
1 Sanjana in Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon– Sanjana played by Kareena Kapoor, was one of the most overacted characters in the history of Bollywood. In this film the whole cast over-acted. But, Sanjana was at a different level altogether. If after watching Sanjana, you are not irritated, then hats off to your patience.
2 Prem in Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon– Prem played by Hrithik Roshan, left us so disappointed. It must be one of the worst performances of Hrithik Roshan in his career. In terms of overacting, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Prem and Sanjana were made for each other.
3 Anya Khan in Tees Maar Khan– Though Sheila Ki Jawani was a super-hit dance number. Katrina Kaif’s overacting ruined Anya Khan in this film. But, it was not only bad about the movie. In case you have not watched this movie, you are saved from getting over torture.
4 Khushi in Khushi– The movie bombed at the box office for all the right reasons. Khushi turned out to be Kareena Kapoor’s other overacted character that left all who watched the movie irritated.
5 Roopa in Mela– Played by Twinkle Khanna, this character would have definitely left you irritated. With an overdose of acting and a weird attitude, Roopa in Mela is unbearable. On Multiple occasions, Twinkle has been vocal about how Mela was one of her worst performances.
6 Ravi in Himmatwala– It is difficult to accept that a talented actor like Ajay Devgn acted in this movie. Ajay’s overacting as Ravi was one of the reasons why this movie bombed at the box office so miserably. In one of the interviews, Ajay Devgn mentioned his regret for doing this film.
There are many more characters in the movies who overacted, but the above characters took the top honours.
B Leaving the glamorous world of Bollywood. You get so used to the limelight that stepping out of it is one of the most difficult things to do. In times, when actors and actresses are ready to do anything to stay in the limelight, here are a few celebrities who showed courage and stepped out of Bollywood
1 Tanushree Dutta– Who was first seen in Aashiq Banaya Aapne, a musically hit film, was last seen in the 2010 movie- Apartment. She felt disgusted with how Bollywood and left. She recently surfaced back when she charged actor Nana Patekar for sexually harassing him (Me Too movement).
2 Asin– a South Indian actress, who became popular with her performances in movies like Ghajini, Bol Bachchan, and Khiladi 786, left the film industry after she got married. She was last seen in the 2015 movie All Is Well.
3 Imran Khan– yes the chocolaty boy, decided to give up his acting career after his 2015 film, Katti Batti bombed at the box office. In 2018, he directed a short film, Mission Mars; Keep Walking India, but has kept himself away from the limelight.
4 Zaira Wasim– She had a successful stint in Bollywood. With three hit films like Dangal, Secret Superstar, and The Sky is Pink, no one could have imagined that she would quit the glamorous world so quickly. In 2019, she cited religious reasons behind her decision to leave.
5 Twinkle Khanna– After a series of flop films, she made her last appearance in Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega way back in 2001. She quit her acting career, got married to Akshay Kumar, and became a writer and producer.
6 Preity Zinta– She took a break from her acting career after a series of failures at the box office. She has been a successful businesswoman, with multiple businesses under her folio, including co-ownership of the IPL franchise.
7 Mayuri Kango– Remember the movie called ‘Papa Kehte Hain’ in which she acted. She acted in a few other films also but left Bollywood in 2009 to pursue a career in marketing. With sheer determination, she climbed the career ladder and is now working at Google India at the top management level.
8 Uday Chopra– Even after being part of popular movies like Mohabbatein and Dhoom series, his career never took off. He was last seen in Dhoom 3 in the year 2013. He has decided to stay away from the limelight.
There are many more stars who left Bollywood after their films were not successful.
