Bowling Records

As you all are aware that cricket is the most followed sport in our country. There is a following for every form of cricket, be it Test cricket, One Day cricket, or T20 cricket. But for real and old classic cricket fans it is only Test cricket which is linked with real  tussle between bat and ball, and similarly between batsmen and bowlers. It has been said that fans generally come to watch batsmen scoring  runs at a faster pace, but there had been moments in Indian Test cricket when fans went overboard with the performances of bowlers. The classic example is when Anil Kumble took all the 10 wickets in an innings against Pakistan, but in the process, he equaled the record created by Jim Laker in 1955. There is another record that Kapil Dev has shared with other bowlers, that is bowling a single No Ball in his career.

Currently, the Indian Test team is one of the strongest teams in the world. It has become difficult to beat team India. I am listing below a few records in Test cricket that solely stands in the name of Indian cricketers.

1 Ravichandran Ashwin– He has taken the least number of Test matches to achieve 250 and 300 wickets haul, and this record stands in his name. He took his 250th wicket in his 45th Test match and he took his 300th Test wickets in his 54th Test match.

2 Narendra Hirwani- He is the record holder for taking maximum wickets in his debut Test match in January 1988. In both innings ,he took 8 wickets each, and by taking 16 wickets in his debut Test match he created this record.

3 Kapil Dev- He is also the holder of one spectacular record, and that is as a captain of his team he took maximum wickets in the innings. In a Test match against West Indies in 1983, he took 9 wickets in the inning. This is the best bowling performance by any captain to date.

4 Javagal Srinath- He is the record holder of best bowling performance in a losing cause. This happened in a Test match against Pakistan in 1998 when he took 8 wickets in the first inning, and 5 wickets in the 2nd inning, thus taking 13 wickets in a lost Test match.

5 Anil Kumble- He  is the record holder of taking maximum wickets by bowling batsmen out with the verdict of Leg Before Wicket (LBW). He has taken 619 Test wickets in his career, out of which 125 wickets in the form of LBW. No other bowler to date has achieved this feat.

So these were the records created by Indian Test bowlers, which are still not broken by any other bowler.

Waiting for your views on this blog.
