In today’s weekend blog, I am not on Bollywood’s feature films. But I am writing about SHORT FILMS, and these types of films are generally available on the OTT platforms and even on YouTube. Known directors of Bollywood mostly direct these short films and sometimes even top stars of Bollywood act in these films. These films have much more impactful content than the usual 100+ Cr Masala films doled out by Bollywood. Here are some very interesting Short Films you must see at least once. 1 Juice With power packed performance of Shefali Shah, this Hindi short film’s portrayal of the average Indian woman resonates with many. A woman stuck working in the kitchen while her husband enjoys with guests, is a subtle but very relevant take on the middle-class housewife. Without any loud expression or shocking dialogues, the short film is worth a watch. 2 Khujli This is considered…

MODI 3.0
So it has become certain that Narendra Modi will become Prime Minister for the third time, and it the process he will become 2nd person who has been chosen to become Prime Minister for 3rd time continuously (ie 2014, 2019, and 2024 ), the first person to achieve this fear was Late Jawaharlal Nehru who became Prime Minister in 1952, 1957, and 1962. Whatever political permutation and combination were envisaged by Political pundits regarding whether JD U and TDP will switch sides and join the INDI alliance, have been laid to rest, as both these parties have given letters of their support to BJP. So as expected it will be MODI 3.0, but this time it will be really coalition government of NDA for BJP, as BJP does not have the majority of their own. This election proves two things: that anti-incumbency is still a factor in Indian politics, which…
Results- Lok Sabha Polls
So yesterday suspense got over, and the results for the Lok Sabha elections were declared state- and constituency-wise. The results shocked all the poll pundits, as all the Exit Polls were proven wrong. The pollsters predicting landslide victory for NDA (led by BJP) got shock of their life, as NDA could reach only the tally of 291 seats, and the opposition alliance INDIA led by Congress got 234 seats. This was totally unexpected for many people. The Share Market which rose by 3000 points in a single after the exit polls, yesterday crashed by more than 4000 points. In 2014 and 2019 general elections, BJP of their own got majority with 282 seats and 303 seats respectively, but this time they have fallen short by 32 seats. The problem for BJP is that, JDU and TDP combined have 28 seats, and Congress has openly said that they are going to…
Exit Polls
The general elections in India are over, and everyone is waiting for the results due on 4th June, ie tomorrow. The various agencies announced their EXIT POLLS findings on the evening of 1st June. The average of all the exit polls shows BJP-led NDA will get 365 seats, the INDI alliance will get 146 seats, and others 32 seats. The minimum number of seats predicted for NDA is 281 with a maximum of 400+, the corresponding figures for 125 and 201, and others ranging from 4 to 49. But one common thing in all the exit polls is that the NDA is returning to power. For the last 3 decades, only for once the exit polls were proven incorrect was in 2004 when NDA led by AB Vajpayee suffered defeat and UPA led by Congress formed the government. So what will happen on 4th June is anybody’s guess? As expected,…
Bollywood-Choosing Wrong Man
It is the weekend, and I am on Bollywood again. It is heartbreaking how our Bollywood movies are full of regressive and patriarchal mindsets. Watching Bollywood movies from a feminist mindset could be very troublesome because you can’t believe how millions of us tend to fall in love with the regressive thought process prevalent in these Bollywood movies. Here are some of the popular Bollywood romantic movies, where the makers made the leading lady be with the man who never deserved her in the first place. While many of us may have fallen in love with these movies and their characters, here is take on how our leading ladies ended up being with the wrong guy. 1 Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999)- Starring Aishwariya Rai, Salman Khan, and Ajay Devgan. This romantic drama directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali was a super blockbuster of its time. Now if you give…
Balance and Coordination
Maintaining good BALANCE AND COORDINATION is essential in our day-to-day life, and it becomes more important in the case of elderly people. As we age, factors such as muscle weakness, joint stiffness, and reduced flexibility can contribute to a decline in balance. However, incorporating simple and gentle exercises into your routine can significantly improve stability and coordination without the need for strenuous activities. Here are some simple exercises that focus on enhancing balance and coordination, some of which can be performed without the need to stand or bend. 1 Seated Leg Raises It is an excellent exercise to strengthen the muscle in your thigh and hips, promoting better stability. Sit comfortably in a chair with your back straight and feet flat on the floor. Slowly lift one leg straight in front of you, hold for a few seconds, then lower in back down. Repeat on the other leg. Aim for…

DDLJ and Raj
In today’s weekend blog, it is Bollywood once again. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (DDLJ) was released in 1995 and is considered one of the best romantic movies ever made. For more than two decades DDLJ was running for single show daily at Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir theatre, and it was only discontinued when Covid 19 pandemic set in. It is still considered as one of the most epic love stories told by Bollywood. But if we were to analyse the male protagonist Raj (played by Shah Rukh Khan) in 2020s, we might not be on the same page as those who adore this movie. Sexism, crossing the line on several occasions, toxic masculinity-they could all be used to describe Raj’s character and to be honest, not many of us would enjoy his annoying presence. The fact is, if you watch this movie now, you could not help but realize there are…
Juvenile Driving
Underage or Juvenile persons driving vehicles have become a nuisance on the Indian roads. Every few days you will read/hear about the accidents that are caused by underage persons driving the vehicles. This week the national media covered one such accident that happened in Pune. In a tragic incident in Pune, a 17-year-old boy driving a Porsche car at high speed crashed into a bike, killing two young IT professionals. The accident occurred around 2.30 am, which resulted in the deaths of Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, both 24 years old. The high-speed car, reportedly going 180+ km per hour hit the bike, causing Ashwini to be thrown 20 feet into the air and Aneesh to crash into a parked car. Both died instantly. The driver, a minor four months shy of his 18th birthday, had been partying with friends to celebrate passing their class 12 exams at a pub….
