After last month’s assembly elections in five states, there have been many changes in the political scenario especially concerning the INDI alliance. In today’s blog, I am writing about some of my stray thoughts on the current INDIAN POLITICAL SCENE.
1 After losing the three Hindi Heartland states Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhatisgarh, the Indian National Congress (INC) party has lost its foothold in Northern Hindi-speaking areas . Now INC is ruling only in Himachal Pradesh in the north, whereas its presence in other northern state like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar & Jharkhand is not very encouraging. Its presence in Eastern states like Bengal, Odisha, and seven North Eastern states is not much to talk about. In the Western States of Gujarat-INC has not shown any worthwhile performance in the last three decades, in Maharashtra it was in alliance with NCP and Shiv Sena (UBT), and in Goa also they are in alliance with some regional parties. Now coming to Southern India they are ruling in 2 states Karnataka and Telangana. Their presence in Andhra -they are not anywhere, in Tamilnadu and Kerala their presence is because of alliance with regional parties.
2 If this is the fate of Congress, which is the main constituent of the INDI alliance. It is going to be very difficult for INC to lead the INDI alliance against the leadership of PM Narendra Modi of BJP, and BJP being the leading constituent of NDA. Now some parties of the INDI bloc have started projecting Mallikarjun Khadge of Congress as their leader to fight against Narendra Modi.
3 Some regional leaders in the INDI alliance are quite popular in their states Mamta Banerjee in West Bengal, Nitish Kumar of Bihar, MK Stalin of DMK in Tamilnadu, Arvind Kejriwal of AAP in Delhi/Punjab, and Akhilesh Yadav of SP in UP. But are these leaders capable of taking Modi head on Pan India?
4 This INDI alliance has only one agenda to anyhow oust Modi and the BJP from ruling the country, and they are not talking about their manifesto of progress and development of the country. And even if they talk they only talk about giving benefits to people of some caste or some religion.
5 Now as per today’s newspapers, Rahul Gandhi is going to undertake one more Yatra which is being called “ Bharat Nyay Yatra” starting 14th January 2024 from Manipur to Mumbai, the East–West Corridor. His earlier South-North corridor Yatra was known as “ Bharat Jodo Yatra”, and its fate is known to everyone. If INC is thinking that these types of Yatras are going to give them some benefits in the coming General Elections in 2024, they are sadly mistaken, as no one in India is now taking the leadership quality of Rahul Gandhi very seriously, and the fact is that whatever he speaks nobody understands, and even the die-hard fans of the Congress do not believe him now.
6 Now INC has also started projecting Priyanka Gandhi as their leader, this they are doing in case the INDI bloc does not back Rahul Gandhi because the Gandhi family is not happy with some parties of the INDI alliance projecting Khadge as their leader.
These are some thoughts of today, I will again write in the future on my thoughts on the Indian Political Scene.
