My today’s blog topic is on entirely different topic, which I have not explored earlier, the topic is connected with human body, which is a complex machine. Our human body is generally in control of all functions, but there are certain functions on which human body have no conscious control. Given below are these functions:
1. Shivering- it generally occurs when you are feeling cold. It may also occur because you are scared, stressed or sick. There is no way to control this bodily function, as it is an unconditional bodily reflex. When a person is cold, muscle contraction emit heat in order to keep the body warm. The fact is that body temp may rise by 2-3 deg C as a result of muscle contractions.
2.Redness of skin-The involuntary redness of skin usually happens when a person is feeling ashamed, embarrassed, angry or if they have physiological problem. This happens because the blood flows to the capillaries that are close to skin’s surface. The fact is this bodily functions is mostly social- people blush or become red when other people are around.
3. Stomach Rumbling- Generally rumbling occurs when a person is hungry. In other cases, the sound is caused by disruption of of the function of digestive system. It does not matter if there is food in the stomach, as the muscle will contract anyway. And if there is no food in the stomach, its gases, air and hydrochloric acid will form a reaction creating different noises. The fact is that the rumbling is not very loud when there is food in the stomach.
4. Sneezing- It occurs in order to remove dust and slime from your airways. It is unconditioned reflex, though most people can suppress a sneeze by gritting their teeth, keeping their eyes wide for 10 to 20 seconds or by rubbing their nose. The fact is that the speed of air you express while sneezing is approx 50 to 100 meters per second.
5.Yawning- This unconditioned reflex is mystery that scientists have been trying to solve for along time. It occurs when you are bored, sleepy or tired. There are many reasons why we yawn, some theories say that it is because we do not get enough oxygen, while others say it is our body’s way of getting the nervous system working (like when we feel bored or tied)
6.Coughing- This unconditional reflex occurs to clear the air passage of foreign bodies. It is almost impossible to suppress a cough because our body is trying to get rid of smoke, dust and dangerous bacteria. By using medication we can reduce the coughing. The fact is a random cough on daily basis is normal. Every person coughs almost 5 -6 times every day.
7.Goosebumps- They appear on our skin when muscles of our hair follicles contract. When you feel cold, scared or impressed , the hail follicles raise causing the body hairs to stand up. This reflex is beyond our control. It is also said that in 50% of people goosebumps also happens when they listen to their favourite music.
8. Sweating-This bodily function occurs when the body is hot. The body exudes water that vapourises from the surface of the skin, decreasing the body’s temperature. Sweating occurs when we exercise, when we feel stressed, or because of illness. Sweat is comprised of 99% water and 1% salt, acids and organic compounds. The fact is it is impossible to turn off sweating, however it can be reduced or curtailed. To do this you need to cut down on caffeine, hot spicy foods & alcoh0l, wear high quality clothes and use special cosmetics.
Additionally besides having functions which body can not control, our bodies also have their own ways of telling us that we are doing something wrong. Yes, pain can actually be caused by emotions.
If you suffer from headaches everyday it may be an indication that you need to slow down and relax a little. Shoulder pain may be caused by stress. Some times even back aches are caused by negative thoughts, it may be relieved if you can speak to someone about the things which are worrying you. Knee pain is some time associated with being unable to accept other people’s opinions. Hip pains some times are associated with if you are scared of making big decisions.
Friends, I hope you have enjoyed this blog, which was on different topic.
