Few interesting news on this first Monday of Jun 2018.
- Rohingya Muslims- You all are hearing about Rohingya Mulsims , who are originally from Myanmar and has illegally migrated to India, and their population has spread in so many states of our country. Now the central Govt has asked J&K and other states to confine illegal Rohingya settlers to pre identified locations with in their state, record their personal particulars including biometric, and states have been particularly told that not to issue them Aadhaar or any other ID proof. A home ministry official of central govt said there are about 40,000 Rihingyas Muslims illegally settled in the country in states like J&K ( in Jammu), Telangana (in Hyderabad), UP( in western part) , Haryana (in Mewat), Delhi ( in Okhla) and Rajasthan (in Jaipur). The official further added that it has come to their notice that some agents in Bengal are helping these Rohingyas to get Indian ID . Diplomatic are on for the eventual return of the Rohingyas to Myanmar, that is the reason for the centre to ask states to confine them, and get their personal details. My only concern is that why there is so much delay in sending these Rohingyas back to their parent country from where they have migrated. Recently I read a news item that Myanmar has agreed to take back 700,000 Rohingyas who are staying illegally in Bangladesh, so why our country with 40,000 can not force the Myanmar authorities to take them back.
- You all will recall that the famous Gangster Abu Salem was extradited from Portugal, after NDA govt headed by Atal bihari Vajpayee gave the assurance to Portugal he will not be given death sentence or imprisonment beyond 25 years. In Feb 2015 he was given life term for 1995 murder of builder Pradeep Jain. In May 2017 Salem moves European Human Right Court (EHRC), saying that trial in India stands destroyed by legal validity, of violating Portugal Court’s order at the time of extradition. Again he writes to EHRC in Jan 2018, alleging extradition agreement is violated, and again in Apr 2018 he informs administrative court of Lisbon in Portugal, that he will make Indian Ambassador as witness. In May 2018 Indian Govt and ambassador pleads diplomatic immunity, indirectly informing Potrugese govt that Indian ambassador will not be part of any trial in Portugal. In his fresh application, he informs the court about a letter , the Porugese Embassy sent to him in Taloja Jail, in which the Embassy assures him, that they are doing everything to hold the legality of extradition treaty. Justifying his demand to be sent to Portugal, Salem has claimed that only he can clarify the exact meaning of the personal letter he received in prison from the Portugese authorities and only his testimony in person in front of Portugese Judge can shed the light on the alleged maltreatment and harassment he is being subjected to in Indian Jail. The procedure allows The Indian authorities and Portugese Foreign Ministry and Justice Ministry to reply in 10 days, after that the Portugese judge will decide whether to concedes to Salem’s plea or not. Some times I do not understand the law, there are so many loop holes available to the Criminal all over the world to escape harsh punishment citing violation of human rights, as if there are no human rights of the victim.
- Have you ever notice that when ever a politician is sent to jail or lock up, he will suddenly fall sick and will be shifted to hospital, and generally in 1st class private room and as soon as he is free or he gets a bail, within few days he becomes fit and resumes his normal life. There have been two classical cases recently, first of Laloo Prasad Yadav who has been convicted in various cases up till now and facing various terms of imprisonment, spends more time in various hospitals than in prison, some times he is in Hospital in New Delhi, presently he has come to Mumbai for his treatment. Second case is of Chhagan Bhujbal of NCP, who was charge sheeted in corruption cases and was in prison for more than 2 years as he was denied bail, he also spend so many months in various hospitals and some times court has to ask theDean of the Hospital, why he has been in the hospital for so long and had even asked for his medical history and all medical test reports pertaining to his supposed sickness. Recently he has been given bail, and now he is back to his normal behaviour and started meeting his friends and party leaders regularly. What a mockery of justice.
Awaiting for your feed backs/comments/views.
