Untold Truth-Partition

Friends, in Indian history partition of the country is one dark truth. But the problem is that we were never told or informed about what actually happened before and after the partition of the country. That part of the recent history has never been correctly documented by the Congress government of that time.

Here are some of the UNTOLD TRUTH about what happened immediately after the PARTITION.

1 After the partition Jinnah and Muslim League of Pakistan put forward a demand that, as our country is divided into two parts West Pakistan and East Pakistan, we are facing many problems while travelling between two parts of Pakistan, first travelling by sea is long and tedious affair as we have to go via Ceylon(now Sri Lanka), and secondly most of our people can not afford to travel by air as it  is very expensive, so we would like to have a corridor which will connect Lahore with Dhaka with the following conditions:

  • This corridor should be a minimum 10 miles (16KM) wide.
  • There will be only the Muslim population in this corridor.

This became known to Nathuram Godse and his friends, and they also knew that Mahatma Gandhi was going to travel to Pakistan on 3rd February 1948, and knowing that Gandhi’s love towards the Muslim community, they were afraid that Gandhi might agree to this corridor during his visit to Pakistan. According to Nathuram Godse, this will be dangerous for the country, as then our country will be divided into two parts. So they planned that the assassination of Gandhi should be done before he could travel to Pakistan. They knew if Gandhiji agrees for this corridor, then no one in the Congress government would have the guts to go against the decision of Mahatma Gandhi.

2 One thing more is baffling, that after the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, within 3 hours, about 6000 Brahmins in Pune were killed, and many were burnt alive. The point to think about is how, in those days when communication was very poor, how could these terrorists, backed by Congress planned such a genocide in such a short time. The question arises then, were these men aware that Nathuram Godse was going to assassinate Mahatma Gandhi on 30th January 1948? This part of the history is hidden from the rest of the country, as it happened in Pune (Maharashtra), many of the Maharashtrian families suffered this genocide, and they still remember.

3 At the end of the trial of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination, Nathuram Godse asked permission from presiding justice Khosla to read his statement. In the court, Godse gave about 150 reasons why he killed Mahatma Gandhi, and here are some main reasons:

  • After the Jallianwala Bagh incident in Amritsar, all countrymen were anguished, and they wanted Congress to file a petition against General Dyer, but Gandhiji refused to support this motion.
  • Everybody in the country was sad with the death sentence given to Bhagat Singh and his fellow revolutionaries, and was looking towards Gandhiji to do something so that they could be pardoned. But Gandhiji refused to mediate in this matter and said that he thinks that the violent actions of Bhagat Singh and others are unjustified. Friends, do you know that in history, Bhagat Singh and others are still categorised as terrorists?
  • On 6th May 1946, while addressing to Social Workers, Gandhiji said

that Hindus should be ready to sacrifice their lives against the violence created by the Muslim League.

  • Even when Mohd Ali Jinnah and other Muslim leaders opposed, Gandhiji went ahead and supported the Khilafat movement. In Kerala, more than 1500 Hindus were killed in violence, and more than 2000 were converted to Islam. Gandhiji never spoke against this violent killing of Hindus, but praised the bravery of Muslim persons who created this violence and said they were ‘Allah Ke Bande’
  • In 1926, the Arya Samaj organisation started a protest against the killing of Swami Shhradhanadji by a Muslim youth Abdul Rashid. But in response, Gandhiji said I consider Abdul Rashid as my brother and whatever he has done is right, and he further stated that the protest by Arya Samaj is on the way to Hindu-Muslim unity.
  • On many occasions, Gandhiji described Chhatrapati Shivaji, Maharana Pratap and Guru Govind Singh as wayward patriots.
  • In Congress’ Tripura session, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was elected Congress President by majority votes, but Mahatma Gandhi was backing Pattabhi Sitarammaiya, in the end, with continuing non-support Netaji left the post.
  • On the one hand, Gandhiji advised Raja Harisingh of J&K to leave his throne, as there was a Muslim majority in the said region, but he went on to praise the Nizam of Hyderabad, although he was ruling a Hindu-majority area.
  • In 1946, Sardar Patel was chosen by the majority as the Prime Minister of the interim government, but Gandhiji insisted Sardar Patel withdraw and appointed Nehru as PM of the interim government.
  • In June 1947, a meeting organised in Delhi Congress party was about to reject the proposal of partition of the country, but Gandhihi reached there and insisted that Congress should accept the proposal of partition. Earlier, the same Gandhiji had said partition would happen on his deathbed.
  • When the displaced Hindus from Pakistan occupied an empty Masjid in Delhi as temporary shelter, but Gandhiji insisted that they should vacate the Masjid, and old people, ladies and children had to vacate in the cold weather of Delhi.
  • Pakistan attacked Kashmir on 22nd October 1947; before this, Lord Mountbatten had advised the Indian government to give Rs 55 Cr to Pakistan. The Central cabinet decided to withhold this money in view of the Pakistani attack, but Gandhiji went to fast unto death for releasing this amount to Pakistan, as a result Indian government gave the funds to Pakistan, in spite of knowing this fund would be used for war against India in Kashmir.

In the end, Nathuram Godse was given a death sentence. But whatever he said in his statement in the court impressed Justice JD Khosla, as he wrote in his book:

“ Nathuram’s statement in the court made everyone present in the court very sentimental, and even some people started crying. If the work of sentencing Nathuram was given to the public present in the court that day, I am certain that Nathuram Godse would have been declared innocent”.

Nathuram Gadse accepted his death sentence willingly. But whatever crime Gandhiji committed against Crore of Indians, the punishment of the same is borne by us Indians till date.

This is what Nathuram Godse felt, and said he saved India by assassinating Gandhiji. Friends, do you think what Nathuram Godse said holds true?

In the end, one thing is sure that: this part of history was never told to us by the successive Congress governments.
