Asha Bhosle-Best Songs-2

Friends, I am continuing with yesterday’s blog on the best songs of Asha Bhosle.

Here are the balance songs:

Jhumka Gira Re Bareilly Ke Bazar Mein from Mera Saaya (1966). Asha thrilled in her alluring voice and teased us with tantalising details about the events leading to her precious Jhumka loss.

Tasveer-e-Mohabbat Thi Jisme, Humne Who Sheesha from Sunghursh 1968. On screen, Vyjayantimala’s defiant mujra exudes the mixture of scorn and sarcasm in Asha’s voice.

Chura Liya hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko-from Yaadon Ki Baarat (1973). Despite being one of the most excessively aired songs of all time, Asha’s syrupy turn in RD’s iconic tune of the 1970s is a food for the lovesick soul to this date.

Sajna Hai Mujhe Sajna Ke Liye from Saudagar (1973)- Asha’s voice and Ravindra Jain’s tune is worth listening.

Koi Shehri Babu, Dil Lehri Babu from Loafer (1973)- The zingy rhythm and masti of Laxmikant Pyarelal’s upbeat score fondly resonates in Asha’s playback skills.

Diljalon Ka Dil Chura Ke from Zanjeer (1973). Saucyy song rely on perfect timing. Asha’s deftly created voice and Bindu’s dance rocks.

Neend Churake Raaton Mein from Shareef Badmash (1973). While Kishore Kumar plays hard to get, Asha fires from all cylinders to win him over in this lovely number.

Jaaneman Jaaneman Tere Do Nayan from Choti Si Baat (1975) Asha’s spice and Yesudas’s soul blend seamlessly for this frothy Salil Choudhary treat.

Bechara Dul Kya Kare from Khusboo (1975). This song is proof of Gulzar’s imagination, RD’s finesse and Asha’s vibrancy.

Sapna Mera Toot Gaya from Khel Khel Mein (1975). Asha’s expressive, narratively detailed anguish is something no other has ever dared to create.

Yeh Ladka Hai Allah Kaise Hai Deewana from Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahin (1977). The singer, along with her husband RD, returns for the cheerful song.

Sara Pyar Tumhara Bandh Liya Hai from Anand Ashram (1977). Asha keeps it understated, along with Kishore, for Shyamal Mitra’s composition.

Yeh Mera Dil Pyar Ka Deewana from Don (1978). Oozing oodles of oomph for Kalyanji Anandji’s tune gave Helen yet another chartbuster to shake a leg on.

Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani from The Great Gambler (1979). Asha’s sur and Zeenat Aman’s splendour translate into Bollywood’s most romantic number.

Jab Chhaye Mera Jadoo from Lootmaar (1980). Asha sings for Rajesh Roshan in this whimsical song.

Pyar Karnewale, Pyar Karte Hain Shaan Se from Shaan (1980). Asha efficiently goes for the larger-than-life effect in her swaggering delivery of Pyar Karnewale.

Sun Sun Didi Tere Liye Ek Rishta Aaya Hai from Khubsoorat (1980). Asha’s naught voice and Rekha’s dramatics made this song memorable.

Khatuba Khatuba from Alibaba Aur Chalees Chor (1980). For this fairy tale Asha endorses RD brand of exotica with an enticing voice.

Dil Cheez Kya Hai Aap Meri Jaan Leejiye from Umrao Jaan (1981). The singer pours her heart, soul and artistry in Khayyam’s impeccable creations to produce the best song of her career.

Tu, Tu Hai Wohi from Yeh Vaada Raha (1982). The quirky mood of RD’s sulky strain is articulated with wonderful restraint by Asha.

Hothon Pe Beeti Baat Aayi Hai from Angoor (1982). Gulzar’s poetry and Asha’s voice is wonderful.

Jawani Jaaneman, Haseen Dilruba from Namak Halal (1982)- Parveen Babi’s jig on the screen would be half effective without Asha’s scintillating voice.

Mere Angane Aaye Re from Naram Garam (1982). Asha embraces the girl-next-door humility of Swaroop Sampat in the trance-inducing song.

Aur Kya Ehde Wafa Hote Hai from Sunny (1984). Asha’s lilting gayaki is the soul of this song.

O Meri Jaan from Manzil Manzil (1984). Though the film flopped, RD’s soundtrack hits all the chords. Asha sounds divine in O Merei Jaan.

Man Kyun Behka, Aadhi Raat Ko from Utsav (1984) Asha and her didi Lata have sung together earlier, but the chemistry of the sisterhood is especially very attractive.

Jaane Do Na from Sagar (1985). Too hot to handle, said every speaker since 1985 who has played this song. Uff, Asha Bhosle.

Roz Roz Ankhon Tale from Jeeva (1986). Some movies don’t merit RD’s beautiful score and Asha’s rendering of this song; it deserved a better movie than this super flop one.

Pyar Ke Mod from Parinda (1989). Asha’s romantic grace in this song evokes an imagery that’s both serene and soothing.

Jhoote Naina Bole from Lekin (1990). There is ample to appreciate about brother Hridyanath Mangeshkar’s composition and Asha’s equally powerful recital.

Dekha Teri Mast Nigahon Mein from Khiladi (1992). She steps into 1990s with trademark fire, in a steamy duet with Kumar Sanu.

Idli Doo from Khel (1992). In this song, Asha is clearly in the mood for mischief, making ridiculous demands on Madhuri Dixit’s behalf during Idli Doo.

Dil To Dil Hai from Zindagi Ek Jua (1992)-Despite Maduri Dixit’s temptress act, this song never really caught on big time.

& 84 Tanha Tanha and Rangeela Re from Rangeela (1995). AR Rahman’s catchy music , Urmila Matondkar’s astonishing makeover in Rangeela and Asha’s wonderful rendition.

Kahin Aag Lage, Lag Jaaye from Taal (1999)- Rahman’s refreshing take on soundtracks allowed Asha’s fresh-as-ever voice to represent yet another facet of her endless talent of sur and taal.

Le Gayi Le Gayi, Kis Ko Hui Na Khabar from Dil To Pagal Hai (1997)- Duet with Udit Narayan. Asha is too good at this dance number.

Pyar Mein Dil Pe Maar De Goli from Mahan (1983). RD’s infectious tune gets sparkling support in Asha and Kishore Kumar as the livewire duo injects the chartbuster with their energy and chemistry.

Mere Dil Ka Who Shezada from Kabhi Na Kabhi (1998). Asha’s enthusiasm for girlish romanticism fits well with Pooja Bhatt’s onscreen presence.

Sooni Sooni Sans Ki Sitar Par from Lal Patthar (1971). This soul-stirring Shankar-Jaikishan number hypnotises and how.

Achcha Ji Main Haari, Chalo Maan Jao Na from Kala Pani (1958). This naughty romantic duet with Mohd Rafi composed by SD Burman, is worth listening to and watching.

Piya Bawri from Khubsoorat (1980). Asha regales in her classical rendition, interspersed by Ashok Kumar’s pulsating bol.

In Ankhon Ki Masti Ke Parwane from Umrao Jaan (1981). All her songs in this movie are classic, and Asha’s voice is divine.
