On the first Monday of May 2018, few thoughts which came to my mind , would like to share with you all.
- Jinnah Controversy at AMU- There has been such a hue and cry about Jinnah’s photograph adorning the wall of AMU. Some section of the society have protested about this and said this photograph should not be there in AMU, as Md Ali Jinnah was the architect of the partition of India. Their point is that Jinnah fought for creation of Pakistan from the territory which was earlier with united India, hence he does not rightfully belong to India, so that Indian should honour him by placing his photographs on the wall. The president of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) student’s union made a statement that as Jinnah was instrumental in the growth of the student’s union and was its past President hence his photograph is there on the wall. This issue has now taken a political turn and it is fast becoming an election issue. Now people are talking about their freedom, similar to what happened in Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU) few years back, that it is their wish as to whose photograph should be there and the party who is in Power at Centre have no right to object. The pseudo secular and some Muslim groups need some issue to attack the ruling party and make the same an election issue. The people who all are taking about this issue may not have been born when the partition happened. The fact is that almost million people died during that period, but the killings of innocent Hindus who were fleeing from Pakistan and coming to India, was started by Pakistanis and Jinnah never made any attempt to stop the killings, on the contrary he made the statements which added fuel to fire. When Indian saw train loads of Hindus dead body arriving in Train, that time Akalis retaliated and started killing Muslims who were going to Pakistan. Jinnah was accorded the status of father of the nation by Pakistan (Qaid e Azam). And here on Indian soil, the architect of country’s partition and creator of Pakistan, is being honoured. One should ask any person whose forefathers came as refugee to India, what was his family’s plight and how they came up in life, but the scar of partition will always haunt these families. Yes friends I belong to the family who suffered due to partition, and I still have preserved my father’s Refugee Certificate issued by the govt. No right thinking Hindu can digest the same. Now if you want to put his photograph as past president of the student’s union, then along with other past presidents his photo of that period should also be placed but not prominently in University Campus. I fail to understand why this issue is linked to personal freedom, when the question is about the country’s prestige and honour. The country which is fighting with us since independence and we have lost thousands of our army men due to this cold war, and still there are few pseudo secular people who are defending Jinnah. In my personal opinion our earlier govts at centre have not looked into this issue as a issue of nation’s pride, therefore these type of people indirectly were encouraged by the successive govts at centre. Today when the govt is not sync with these people’s ideas, they all are shouting and making an issue of personal freedom. In the end my submission to all these pseudo secular is , please do not make this issue as attack on personal freedom, think it from the angle of national pride and honour issue.
- Second item is from the world of Cricket- Friends you all are aware about the NO BALL rule prevailing in Cricket. When the bowler while bowling over step at front crease the ball is considered as not a proper delivery and bowler has to re bowl the delivery and batting team is credited with an extra run. Now with One Day Internationals(ODI) and Twenty 20(T20) gaining popularity, there is a additional benefit for batting team, when a bowler bowls a No Ball, the next delivery which the bowler has to bowl is considered as Free Hit, which means the batsman on this delivery can not be declared out as bowled, caught etc, he can only be declared run out. So now a days bowler has to be very careful about a No Ball delivery. Now can you imagine any bowler who has never bowled a No Ball in his entire international career. YES there are five bowlers who have never bowled a No Ball in their entire international career, and you will be surprised to know that among these five there is one Indian bowler also, giving below the details of these 5 bowlers a) Lance Gibbs from West Indies- Played 79 Tests and 3 ODIs b) Dennis Lilee from Australia- Played 70 Tests and 63 ODIs c) Ian Botham from England- Played 102 tests and 116 ODIs d) Imran Khan from Pakistan- Played 86 Tests and 175 ODIs e)Kapil Dev – Played 131 Tests and 225 ODIs
What a wonderful achievement by all of them.
