Continuing with my blog on all together different subject, today I am writing about a subject which is generally not discussed in detail any where. The subject is kind of therapies available for your general health.
Friends, you must have heard about music therapy, flower therapy, art therapy, pet therapy, painting therapy and many more. But have you ever heard about WRITING therapy, which has been proven beneficial for seniors. Generally it is believed that writing is not for everyone and that one may need specific skills for the same. That might be true to a certain extent, unless one try it out, one may not about his skill. Here all one is doing is just writing and putting one’s thought on paper which is not necessarily for public view. It is like getting certain things out of your system, which becomes therapy. In fact in present days you may not even need pen & paper. You can use computer system to write your thoughts. You can easily write on facebook, whatsApp and other social media, and share with your friends, and if you do not want to share then you may write in word document on your computer/laptop and save the same.
Generally the senior citizens are the one who have the maximum life experience, whether it is bad or good. It can be a good idea to just note the same, which will keep you engage and later on the people near you can be benefitted by the same. This kind of memories are also a great idea of sharing your experiences with others. Generally it has been found that seniors who write their experiences, find it enjoyable, and this way they remain healthy. This also helps to remember the incidents which happened in their life, and by putting down those incidences, they can now see the same with different perspective. There may be emotions attached with these incidences, and by writing about the same a sense of relief is felt. Thus writing has been proven beneficial to seniors and also help them to heal faster mentally and emotionally.
Next is What kind of writing : It is suggested that you must write expressively by letting yourself totally free, and should express your emotions fully. This kind of writing really help seniors. It has been observed that who write this way, actually get better sleep. Sleeping well is very beneficial for seniors, as it reduces the risk of many ailments, thus in turn help people maintain good health both mentally and physically.
How to write: For beginners all it needs is to have pen and notebook/diary to start and if you are comfortable with computer/laptop you can start typing in word document and then save it. Without any inhibitions one must write with expressing full emotions. You may write about your life, and bring out your feelings associated with the events as well.If you like to share your writings with your near and dear ones, you can use facebook or any other such social media apps to share. However do not get discouraged by if you do not get positive feed back. Here the key is to keep on writing and after some times you will improve and will start getting positive feed backs. If later on you progress to writing your blogs, please do not get discouraged because someone may have different point of view than yours, and you may get negative reviews/comments also.
In my case when I started writing, was not aware about writing therapy. In year 2014, I came out of the organisation where I was employed, and for next 2 years I was working as free lancer on and off, which gave me free time. Before this I had thought about writing a book, and its rough idea was in my mind. So when I started getting free time I started my research work for the book and simultaneously started writing the same. By early 2017 I completed my book, but due to some reasons or other I am unable to publish the same. During this time I also started expressing my views on the facebook and other social platforms. So when book was over my daughter in law suggested that I should start writing my blog, and initial work of how to start the blog was all done by her, so she was motive force who encouraged me to write my blogs. Till date friends I have written 580 blogs. This writing gives me great pleasure, first it keeps me occupied and mind is always alert and looking out for new topics for the blog, secondly in the back of my mind there is always a thought about writing a blog when you get up in the morning. Generally I write 4 to 5 blogs in a week. I was not knowing about writing therapy till recently, but in my case what I accidently started proved to my writing therapy which worked for me. My general health is also improved and with age it is not going down.
