Wednesday Brief

My today’s blog is  health related.

Friends you must have heard about many oils, but have you ever heard about MCT oil, till recently I have also not heard about  the same. This oil is known as fuel for Body and  Mind. MCT stands for Medium Chain Triglycerides. Now in reality MCT is the healthiest part of virgin coconut oil. It is an essential fatty acid that promotes ketone production as  an immediate source of energy for our brain and body. Ketones bodies are water soluble molecules containing the ketone group that are produced by the liver from fatty acids during periods of low food intake, carbohydrate restrictive diets, starvation, prolonged intense exercise, alcoholism or in untreated diabetes.

Now you will  ask then what is the difference between Coconut oil and MCT oil- MCT oil is derived from virgin coconut but it might surprise you that MCT oil is different from Coconut oil. MCT oil is  produced by refining raw coconut oil. This process removes and concentrates the MCTs naturally found in the oil.

Now what are benefits of MCT oil

Boost energy – MCTs are quickly metabolised into energy. Easily broken down in the body, it raises energy levels by supplementing the glycogen in muscles for high intensity or prolonged activity.

Improves Brain function- Revitalizes brain cells by providing ketones as energy sources for better mental focus, memory retention, sharpness and concentration. It can provide energy and protect neutral pathways, thus decreasing the risk of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative  disorders.

Balances Cholesterol Level-The low fat deposits of MCT oil allow for good cardiovascular health. It increases HDL (good cholesterol) and regulates LDL (bad cholesterol) to lessen plaque build up, thus lowering blood pressure.

Increases Fat burning– MCT oil does not get stored as body fat. In fact when its fatty acids are converted into energy it helps in the calorie burning process because metabolism happens much faster.

Increases Immunity– MCT oil has anti-inflammatory, anti viral and anti bacterial properties which provide increased resistance to diseases, production of white blood cells and prevention of parasitic and viral infections. It destroys pathogens in the digestive system. Remaining toxins are flushed away to help good bacteria grow.

Now who should use MCT oil

Wise Mentor– If you are senior adult who wants to lead a fulfilling and productive life as you age. Then you should be wise enough to know about the importance of having supplements that provide the support you need to enhance memory and supply energy. MCT oil leads to the production of ketones, an alternative brain food that improves the process of understanding (cognitive) and memory function.

Health Enthusiast– No matter what is your age, you should eat a balanced meal and maintain healthy habits to have stronger body and sharper mind. MCT oil gives you more energy to allow you to engage  in many activities and live good life you want to achieve.

Weight Watcher– Now if you are health and wellness advocate, a gym goer, a sports enthusiast, or a ketogenic dieter who wants to loose weight while  staying fit. Then MCT oil helps you to achieve your weight loss goals as it allows you to burn more fat on less food.

How to take MCT oil

Adding MCT oil to your diet should be slow. Start very small by taking one teaspoon of high quality MCT oil, and gradually increasing your dose every couple of days up to 15 ml twice daily. MCT oil can be added to the coffee, smoothies, food etc.
