Some varied thoughts on this 2nd Thursday of May 2019.
1 I do not know what ails Congress, as they do not have any faith in constitutional bodies like Election Commission (EC). They were the first party from the opposition ranks who started blaming EVMs and for every decision of EC is being challenged in Supreme Court (SC) as SC has got no other work other than listening to various petitions filed by Congressmen.
SC on Wednesday,8th May 2019, refused to expand Congress’s MP Sushmita Dev’s plea for expediting the EC’s decision on party’s complaints of model code violations against PM & BJP Chief, to include the challenge the clean chit given to them by EC. First they approach SC to pass an order so that EC to expedite the matter and when EC has given the decision, then they come back to SC, and ask SC to include in the earlier petition why EC has given clean chit to them. It only means unless the EC gives decision in their favour, they will keep on approaching SC.
Advocate, who was appearing for Congress attempted to draw the SC’s attention to the disparity in the logic the EC decisions saying when the complaint related to PM & BJP Chief the Commission gives clean chit, but for similar speeches, the EC has pulled up other political leaders of opposition parties.
Counsel who was appearing for EC, said that Sushmita Dev was not the complainant against PM & BJP Chief. He further added that most of the complaints were filed by Congress party or its leader Randeep Surjewala. As the EC has already decided the complaints and sent the decision to Congress party or Surjewala, as the case may be, hence Sushmita Dev’s petition should not be admitted.
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) said it can not go against the merit of the fresh allegations about EC decision to give clean chit to PM & BJP Chief, as the petition has achieved its purpose- which was for expediting the EC’s decision. They further added, if the Congress party so feels that they could challenge the EC’s decision through fresh petition.
My view is that, when congress party makes some allegations against BJP leadership, BJP never goes running to EC or SC, but when some one says any thing against Congress or specially Gandhi family then what you say in Hindi “ Congress Ko Mirchi Kyoon Lagti Hai”. Rahul Gandhi for last so many months has kept on saying PM has done corruption in Rafale deal or Chowkidar Chor Hai, then it is OK for Congress Party. But when some BJP leader says that Rajiv Gandhi was corrupt and was involved in Bofors deal kickbacks, then Congressmen should not feel bad about the same. But the truth about Congressmen is, for them every one other than members from Gandhi family, is corrupt. The members of the Gandhi family are the cleanest politicians in the world.
2 So at last IPL has come to last stages. In the first Qualifier on 7th May 2019, Mumbai Indians (MI) convincingly beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and qualified to play in the final match of IPL. Yesterday, 8th May 2019, Eliminator match between 4th Place Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was really interesting and it was nerve wrecking match as till the end it was any team’s game, but in the end it was DC who won the match with only one ball to spare. There was drama in the last over as DC’s Amit Mishra was declared out obstructing the ball while going for a run. I have heard about batsmen getting out obstructing the field, but this is the first time I have seen batsman being declared out in such a fashion.
In the end SRH, who just sneaked into playoffs with only 12 points (others had 18 points each) had to bow out of the tournament.
Now let us see who will be playing against MI on 12th May 2019, in the finals , Will it be DC or CSK, this will be known only on 10th night.
