Friends, I have always wondered about the religion of Nehru/Gandhi family. When I was in school in 1950s, the history book informed me that Jawaharlal Nehru was Kashmiri Hindu. As I grew up, I learnt that because Nehru was Kashmiri he took the responsibility of Kashmir’s problem, which arose after the Maharaja of J &K Hari Singh signed the treaty of accession with India, and the Kashmir problem still exists even after 72 years on independence. Recently I happened to come across some information about Jawaharlal Nehru and his family which I want to share with you friends, and this information forced me to think whether this family was really Hindu or they just use the Hindu name for political purposes.
1 When Jawaharlal Nehru married Kamala Nehru in Feb 1916, the wedding invitation car was printed in 3 languages- English , Urdu and Pharsi. Where as there is a common custom in Hindu religion that in whatever language you print a card, atleast there will be emblem of some Hindu god/goddess on the card, but this card did not have any.
2 When after independence, Sardar Patel proposed the reconstruction of destroyed Somnath temple, although Mahatma Gandhi agreed for the proposal but Jawaharlal Nehru opposed the same. Sardar Patel went ahead for reconstruction work, and when President Rajendra Prasad wanted to visit the Somnath Temple, Nehru again opposed the idea, but President did visit the temple. This was one of the incidence which sow the seed of distrust between Sardar Patel/Rajendra Prasad and Nehru.
3 Nehru had a strong objection to the name of Banaras Hindu University, he wanted to remove the word Hindu from university’s name , he put pressure on Madan Mohan Malviya but Malviya did not listened to Nehru, and looked into that university’s name remains the same. But Nehru never objected to word Muslim in the name of Aligarh Muslim university.
4 Nehru even objected to naming “ Vande Matram” as national Song. This objection of Nehru instigated the Muslims who till date refuse to sing Vande Matram.
5 In Nov 1966, Naga Sadhus who were protesting against Cow Slaughter in New Delhi, and demanding the ban on cow slaughter, were fired on by security forces and order for same was given by Indira Gandhi (daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru), who was then PM . In the firing 6 sadhus were killed, and Gulzarilal Nanda, who was then Home Minister and was in favour of banning Cow slaughter, was removed as Home Minister. After this incident Indira Gandhi’s congress lost few state assembly elections in Hindi belt.
6 Although in Feb 1968, when Rajiv Gandhi got married to Sonia, the wedding invitation card was also printed in Hindi, but without any emblem of Hindu God/Goddess.
7 Nehru/Gandhi family has never celebrated any Hindu festival in a traditional way. They always throw Iftaar party during Ramzan but they have never given any party during Hindu festivals like Navratri Diwali, Holi etc. They generally never send their wishes on the occasion of Hindu festivals. People have never seen Priyanka Gandhi tying a Rakhi on Rahul Gandhi’s wrist on Raksha Bandhan day. It was first time before the 2019 General Elections that the festival of Holi was celebrated in the Congress Heat Quarter, just to please Hindus.
8 During the last two general elections (2014 & 2019), just to defeat Modi, Rahul Gandhi became Hindu and started visiting temples and taking blessings of various Gurus/Mahants. One of the Congress leader made a statement that Rahul is a “ Janeudhari Hindu”, which is far from the fact. After losing the elections Rahul forgets he has declared himself a Hindu, and never visited temples afterwards.
9 Nehru/Gandhi family never supports the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhaya, and on the contrary some of the Congress leaders as advocates are fighting against the Ram Temple construction. Congress Leader Kapil Sibal went as far as requesting Supreme Court to hear Ram Temple case after the General Elections in 2019., but SC refused this request.
10 In 2007, Congress Govt gave an affidavit in Supreme Court that Lord Rama, Sita and Valmiki all are fictitious characters, and there is no significant evidence pertaining to Ram Setu, about whether it existed.
11 It was Congress who started giving subsidy to Muslims for performing Haj pilgrimage, while it started taxing Hindus going for Amarnath Yatra. Haj subsidy to Muslims is not given by even any Islamic nation and India was the first nation to do so. It was Modi govt which abolished this subsidy.
12 Congress for the first time coined a term “ Hindu Terrorism”, and wanted to prove to the world that Hindu terrorism is worst then Islamic terrorism.
13 Ex Congress President Rahul Gandhi made a statement in recent past that Hindus who visit temples and pray to God/Goddess , then come out of temple and do eve teasing.
14 During a visit to Germany Rahul Gandhi defamed the Hindu religion by saying that whatever atrocities which are happening on women in India are due to Hindu culture and its practices.
15 Congress started propagating in world that Hindu terrorists are far worse than the LeT terrorists. The fact is that there is no concrete evidence that there are any Hindu terrorist organisations.
Above are few incidents/statements by the members of Nehru/Gandhi family which strengthens the belief that this family is basically anti Hindu.
