Yesterday,speaking at an event to mark the 75th anniversary of the formation of the Azad Hind Govt by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, PM Narendra Modi remarked that the idea of India and Indianness had emerged from nationalist leaders like Netaji. The PM also said that leaders like Netaji, Sardar Patel and BR Ambedkar had not been given their due by Nehru/Gandhi family. He further added that India would have been entirely different country, if it had been led by these leaders, instead by the the people, who continued to rule India through the eyes of British even after it became independent. Everyone else has been ignored, only one family prospered.
Congress party in their customary mode reacted to PM’s statement and said that NDA govt is rewriting the history. Their spoke person said there was no rivalary/rift between Netaji and Nehru, and between Nehru and Sardar Patel. It is well documented fact in the history that Nehru did not get along with Sardar Patel, and Nehru became PM because Gandhi told Patel to back out, even when Patel got max votes in the working committee for PM’s post. It is also a known fact that Netaji left the Congress because both Gandhi and Nehru were against Netaji’s way of thinking about getting freedom from British rule. So whom the congress spoke person was fooling.
The fact is that after independence, the public has been fed with distorted history to suit the Nehru/Gandhi family. Let me elaborate few known facts.
The historians promoted by Congress party led us to believe the following:
- They heavily underplayed the role of nationalists leaders like Veer Savarkar, Lala Lajpat Rai, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh and many more. They never disclosed the fact that how Netaji died, it is popular belief that he survived and lived for many years in Soviet Union, but no historian or Congress party ever talk on this matter.
- These historians portrayed tyrants like Babar, Aurangzeb, Allauddin Khilji and Tipu Sultan as heroes. The fact is that, these kings were responsible for mass genocide and atrocities on Hindu subjects, but they are portrayed as great leaders.
- These historians have conveniently hidden what Mr Clement Atlee, British PM in 1947, had said regarding our freedom struggle and why British left. Clement Atlee himself admitted that the role of Indian National Army( raised by Netaji in 1943 for Azad Hind movement), revolt of Royal Indian Navy Mutiny in 1946 and the stellar role played by Netaji, had weakened the basic foundation of British Empire in India and that the latter had to quit India in matter of time. And we are made to believe for last 7 decades that it was the effort of Gandhi and Nehru that gave us freedom, yes the truth is they were responsible for the partition of the country and sowing the seed of hatred among Hindus and Muslims.
- No present day historian talk about role played by Guru Goving Singh and Lachit Borphukan in the resistance against the Mughal atrocity at its zenith. Similarly Shivaji Maharaj also never got proper place in the history, whatever is known to public is due to some Maharashtrian Historians who gave Shivaji his proper due, otherwise Congress backed historian were calling him a leader with limited following during his time.
- Even the incident which happened 34 years back, has been documented to suit Gandhi/Nehru family. These historian have hidden the role of Congress goons when they massacred more than 10,000 Sikhs in Delhi, after Indira Gandhi’s assassination, and never took a step to stop the Sikh genocide. These people have hidden the the reason why Indira Gandhi impose emergency and how the people suffered under the blatant violations of human rights.
Now the problem is if the present govt wants to restore the real facts, then these self styled pseudo liberals historians and pseudo secular media and intellectuals, working on behalf of Congress, would rise a revolt and cry wolf. They will say that present govt is trying to rewrite or distort history, but the truth is otherwise, and the fact is it will do justice to real history.
Even after independence, intellectually and educationally India continues to be a European colony. Most of the Indian histories had earlier written by English/Western writers. The history of ancient India was projected on false foundations during the colonial period. Many of the present scholars have attempted to expose the fallacy of distorted Indian chronology with reference to puranic history. Even some of India’s intellectual elite continue to promote the pre colonial era history by portraying India as feudalistic nation. There is one saying” History is always written by winner”. The truth of this is reflected in the way history books were written after we gained independence.
The problem is that even today, the history which is being taught now or taught earlier since independence is very much distorted . Earlier for common man ,what is written in school/college text book was believed to be truth. But presently every historical fact is available on the internet, and when someone reads the other version of the same history , then one realises that till date what ever he has read in text book may not be factually correct.
