Monday News

Few interesting news items which caught my today and wish to deliberate on the same:

  1. In Kashmir FIR is registered against Indian Army, charging its 10th Garhwal unit with murder, attempt to murder and endangering life, over the killing of 2 civilians in  firing. The two protesters died when army opened the fire on the civilian who were pelting stones at Army personnel. The Army gave a statement that they opened the fire in self defence after their convoy came under heavy stone pelting by protesters who allegedly tried to snatch the weapon of a Jawan.  Now all the political leaders of J & K have started criticising army for killing civilians, including the CM of J& K   Mehbooba Mufti. Now these politicians keep silent when Army officers and Jawan die in terrorist attacks and Pakistani firing, these politicians keep mum even when  the civilians die in terrorist attacks and Pakistani shelling but as soon as some protester dies when army fires in self defence then the hell break loose, and every politician and human right activist will start criticising the army’s action and will become critical on central govt. I want to ask one question to J & K govt and politicians of that state, can Kashmir  and Kashmiris survive without the presence of Indian army. I know no politician will like to answer this question because they want army’s presence in the state for their own protection also, but to keep their image as soon as some civilian die in Army’s firing they start speaking against army, it is like the old proverb ” you want to have the cake and eat it to”.
  2. Yesterday in a bizarre accident accident in one of the famous Govt Hospital in Mumbai, a patient’s relative was sucked by MRI machine. The incident happened when a patient who was dependent on oxygen supply from cylinder for breathing was taken to MRI room for imaging, the patient’s relative asked the attendant whether metallic oxygen cylinder is allowed inside and the attendant answered in affirmative, without knowing that the MRI machine is already on. As soon as the the person entered with the cylinder the magnetic force of the MRI machine pulled him towards the machine injuring him seriously which proved to be fatal. This is a sheer carelessness on the part of the management of the hospital by posting an attendant who did not even know that no metallic objects are permitted inside MRI room, and second thing the doctor who prescribed MRI test for the oxygen supply dependent patient should have briefed the patient’s relatives that they are not suppose to take any metallic objects in the MRI room. In the end it is a careless attitude of medical fraternity  which caused the death of  a man.
  3. Yesterday in tennis, Roger Federer became the first male player to win 20 Grand Slams. Grand Slam is a term given to 4 premier tennis tournament of the world ( Australian Open in Melbourne Australia, French Open in Paris, Wimbeldon in London and US Open in New York). Up til now Roger has won 8 Wimbeldon titles, 6 Australian Open titles, 5 US Open titles and 1 French open title. He has won last three titles after crossing the age of 35, when most of the male tennis player are contemplating retirement. Hats off to his fitness, mental strength and efforts of his team which has resulted in this fantastic achievement which in near future is very will be difficult to surpass. The next player Raffal Nadal, who is 31 years old,has won 16 Grand Slams but presently although he is no. 1 player in the world but of late he is very much injury prone, and after him the only active player is Novak Djokovic, who is also above 30, who has won 12 Grand Slams, is also side lined with injury. In my opinion there is a distant & remote possibility of his record being broken.

Waiting for your comments and feed backs.

    1. Less said about our politicians better.
