ODI Max Run In Over

In today’s weekend blog, I am writing on sports, and it is cricket.

Cricket is a game of a fight between batsman and bowler. The batsman wants to score maximum runs in a 6-ball over, and the bowler wants to take maximum wickets in one over. Presently game of cricket has changed drastically with the advent of the T20 form of cricket, which has become a batsman game, and all the rules of this format are favouring batsmen. Before that there was One Day International (ODI)) matches of 50 overs, and here there were equal opportunities for both batsmen and bowlers. Each bowler could bowl a maximum of 10 overs, and batsmen were getting time to settle down and then going for big hits.

Given below is the list of batsmen who were at the crease when the team score went up by so many runs in a single over in ODI cricket:

29 Virender Sehwag (India)- He scored 26 runs in one over of bowler Dilhara Fernando (Sri Lanka). His scoring sequence was 4,4,6,4,4,4.

28 Saeed Anwar (Pakistan)- He scored 26 runs in one over bowled by Anil Kumble (India). His scoring sequence was 2,2,6,6,6,4.

27 Brian Lara (West Indies)- He scored 26 runs in one over bowled by Seebaran (Canada). His scoring sequence 4,6,4,6,6,0.

26 Martin Guptil (New Zealand)- He scored 27 runs in one over bowled by Chameera (Sri Lanka). His scoring sequence 6,6,6,4,4,1.

25 Hashim Amla (South Africa)-In an over bowled by John Moony (Ireland), the team total went up by 27 runs (including extras). Scoring sequence 2,4, nb,4,6,4,6.

24 Graem Smith (South Africa)-In an over bowled by Naved Ul Hasan (Pakistan), the team total went up by 27 runs (including extras). Scoring sequence w,nb,4,4,4,4,w,4,4.

23 Shaun Pollock (South Africa)-In an over bowled by Franklin (New Zealand), he score 27 runs. Scoring sequence 2,6,6,6,6,1.

22 Glenn Maxwell (Australia)-In an over bowled by Bas De Leede (Scotland), team total went up by 28 runs. Scoring sequence 4,4,6,6, nb, 6,1.

21  Ben Stokes (England)-In an over bowled by Krunal Pandya (India), team total went up by 28 runs. Scoring sequence 6,w,4,2,w,6,6,2

20 Mitchell Santner (New Zealand)-He scored 28 runs in a over bowled by Adil Rashid (Bangladesh). Scoring sequence 6,6,0,6,6,4.

19 Rilee Rossouw (South Africa)-In an over bowled by Andre Russel (West Indies) team total went up by 29 runs. Scoring sequence 6,4,nb,6,w,6nb,2,1.

18 Ross Taylor (New Zealand)- In an over bowled by Shoaib Akhtar (Pakistan), team total went up by 28 runs. Scoring sequence 4,6,6,w,4,w,6.

17 Shahid Afridi (Pakistan)- In an over bowled by Enamul Haque (Banladesh), he scored 28 runs. Scoring sequence 6,6,6,0,6,4.

16 Jatinder Singh (Oman)- He scored 30 runs in an over bowled by Sompal Kami (Nepal). Scoring sequence 6,4,6,4,4,6.

15 Ab de Villers (South Africa)- He scored 30 runs in an over bowled by Jason Holder (West Indies). Scoring sequence 2,6,6,4,6,6.

14 David Miller (South Africa)-He scored 30 runs in an over bowled by Solomon Mire (Zimbabwe). Scoring sequence 6,4,4,6,4,6.

13 Ab de Villers (South Africa)-He again scored 30 runs in an over bowled by Dwayne Smith (West Indies). Scoring sequence 6,6,4,6,6,2.

12 James Faulkner  (Australia)- He scored 30 runs in an over bowled by Ishant Sharma (India). Scoring sequence 6,6,2,6,6,4.

11 Ross Taylor (New Zealand)- Team total went up by 30 runs in an over bowled by Abdul Razzaq (Pakistan). Scoring sequence 4,6,w,6,w,2,4,6.

10 Dmitri Mascarenhas (England)- He scored 30 runs in an over bowled by Yuvraj Singh (India). Scoring sequence 0,6,6,6,6,6.

9 Sanath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka)-He scored 30 runs in an over bowled by Aamir Sohail (Pakistan). Scoring sequence 6,6,6,6,4,2.

8 Sanath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka)-Team total went up by 30 runs in an over bowled by Chris Harris (New Zealand). Scoring sequence w,4,6,6,6,6,1.

7 Liam Livingstone (England)-He scored 32 runs in an over bowled by Boissevain (New Zealand). Scoring sequence 4,6,6,6,6,4.

6 Shahid Afridi (Pakistan)-He scored 32 runs in an over bowled by Ashen Banddara (Sri Lanka). Scoring sequence 4,4,6,6,6,6.

5 Jimmy Neesham (New Zealand)-Team total went up by 32 runs in an over bowled by Thisara Perera (Sri Lanka). Scoring sequence 6,6,6,6,nb,6,1.

4 Ab de Villers (south Africa)- Team total went up by 34 runs in an over bowled by Jason Holder (West Indies). Scoring sequence 4nb,6,2nb,4,4,4,2,6.

3 Thisara Perera (Sri Lanka)-Team total went up by 35 runs in an over bowled by Robin Peterson (South Africa). Scoring sequence 6,w, 6,6,6,4,6.

2 Jaskaran Malhotra (USA)- He scored 36 runs in an over bowled by Gaudi Toka (Paupa New Guinea). Scoring sequence 6,6,6,6,6,6.

1 Herschelle Gibbs(South Africa)-He scored 36 runs in an over bowled by Daan Van Bunge (Holland). Scoring sequence 6,6,6,6,6,6,.

Surprisingly India who boast of many hard hitting batsmen, features only once in the list and that too at the bottom, with Virender Sehwag scoring 26 runs in an over.
