Perfect PM

Yesterday we lost the most gentleman, who became politician and occupied the highest post of our democratic country ie  of Prime Minister. History will call him as almost perfect PM, but in my opinion he was the best PM . Some historian may disagree with me and say Pandit Nehru to be the  best and  perfect PM, but there is one big difference here, while Pandit Nehru ruled  when his Congress had the absolute majority in both the houses of Parliament, while Atalji had to lead the nation when his party had no majority in any house of the Parliament, and he had to survive with whims and fancies of Coalition partners, and still he did wonders for the country in all the field, you name it , be it Foreign Relations, Infrastructure, , Communications, Finance etc etc. He showed to the world that he is not afraid of any super power, when he authorised Indian scientists to go ahead with Pokhran blast in 1998, and he did not buckle under US pressure during Kargil war. It was being said in political circle that during Kargil war some advisor of US President called him and said that India must hand over Kashmir territory to Pakistan, otherwise Pakistan will attack India with nuclear warfare, and what was Atalji’s reply ” In that case take it from me Pakistan will cease to exist tomorrow morning in the world map.” That was his presence of mind and his dedication towards nation, and friends please remember he was only a care taker PM at the time of Kargil war, having lost the confidence of Parliament few months back by only 1 vote. And after Kargil war ,  his party got more seats in next and this time NDA coalition lasted full term without any problem.

Such was his stature that, people still wonder how NDA lost the 2004 elections, even after “India Shinning” campaign, and any how he accepted the defeat very sportingly and retired from active politics in 2009, when he refused to contest the Lok Sabha election.

You all know what happened during next 2 terms of UPA rule, and it was but natural that BJP had to come back to power in 2014. This time , first time in history BJP got the majority of its own, and Govt led by Narendra Modi took the pledge that what ever dream Atalji had for modern India will be completed by his team.

Congress/UPA never accepted the greatness of Atalji,  Congress can only accept the person from Nehru/Gandhi family as their and for them the leaders from other parties are zero. Atalji had the guts to go against the party line and even praised Indira Gandhi after Bangla Desh war and  termed her as ‘Durga’. He should have been awarded Bharat Ratna long time back, but Congress or its allies can not think beyond their own cadre, it was really surprising that lesser known politicians got Bhara Ratna, but Atalji’s name was never came into that list. At last Modi govt awarded him the highest honour of Bharat Ratna in 2015, which he truly deserved.

There is so much to write about Atalji, but I am not going to write any more about him, because I feel there is enough to read in the media/social media about his greatness.

In the  end, I pray that his soul should Rest In Peace, and his party men and other politicians should emulate his way of working of taking everyone along in the journey.
