Wednesday Thoughts

On the first day of May 2019, which happens to be International Labour Day, and in this part of country it is also known as Maharashtra Day & Gujarat Day, as on this day both the states came into existence on the political map of India. Some varied thoughts of the day :

1.The dismissed SC employee who had accused Chief Justice of India (CJI) of sexual harassment, has walked out of the inquiry into her complaint, alleging that the panel comprising of 3 SC judges did not conform to guidelines. She further added that she is unhappy because of being denied assistance of her lawyer, and she felt intimidated when facing the panel of judges. She referred to being repeatedly asked about the delay in lodging her complain against CJI.. She claimed all her demands were rejected by the committee, which told her in curt manner that “it was neither an in house committee proceedings nor proceeding under Vishakha guidelines, and that it is an informal proceedings”. She adds that  ‘I felt that, I was not likely to get justice from this committee of 3 SC judges’.

So what a stage has come, SC judges are not following the guidelines framed by the law for sexual harassment complains, then how can you expect justice for the common citizen. It becomes explicit that these 3 SC judges are bound no save the CJI at any cost, whether he is guilty or not. This action of these judges point out that there must be some thing fishy in this case.

  1. Rafale/Rahul/SC- A three justice bench headed by CJI chastisised rahul Gandhi for the ambiguously worded 22 page affidavit, he had filed in response to the contempt plea filed by BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi. The SC bench noted that Rahul Gandhi required 22 pages to express regret within bracket. With his regret not meeting the requirement in a contempt case. The SC has given Congress President time till next Monday, to file proper apology affidavit. SC bench further stressed on the point that” while we pobserve that it will be open for the respondent (Rahul Gandhi) to file an additional affidavit, if he so desires, we make it clear that admissibility and acceptance of any affidavit, if filed, will be considered on the next date fixed, that is 10th May 2019. The bench made a comment against the advocate of Rahul Gandhi and said ‘ you needed 22 page affidavit nto express complete regret. You make a statement and you try to justify it ? Where have we said what you have attributed to us.’. Whe Rahu’’s advocate tried to pacify the court saying Rahul was unequivocal to express regret. The bench retorted  and asked ‘ what is the meaning of regret within brackets When Rahul’s advocate tried to explain that Congress President’s long standing conviction that there was corruption in the Rafale deal. The bench cut him short saying “ We are not interested in knowing what is your political stand. You keep that to yourself.” So let us wait & watch for next hearing on 10th May.
  2. As yesterday’s match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) was washed out due to rains, so it seems curtains for both the team in the IPL.

    S. C. should follow rules.
Rahul Gandhi needs to file fresh affidavit.
It seems rains have saved blushes for both teams.
