Wednesday Titbits

Some interesting titbits on the last day of Jan 2018.

  1. Yesterday I wrote on simultaneous polls for Loksabha and State assemblies. Further on this topic  is, the opposition parties specially Congress is wary of this idea and they fear that it will give leverage to BJP to subdue the effect of incumbency in the state assemblies. They are  pointing out that what happens to the assemblies who has got major term still left when Loksabha goes to poll- to counter this my suggestion would be that the if  any assembly has  completed min 3 years of its term it should go to poll along with Loksabha and if assembly has not completed 3 years then it’s term should be extended once so that the assembly poll should coincide with next Loksabha polls. Second point raised by Congress is that if the govt at centre falls and the Loksabha had to go to polls again for the formation of Govt, should the assemblies also go to polls once again- my suggestion in this case would be, if this scenario happens and Loksabha has to go for polls again, in that case the term for the re elected Loksabha would be curtailed so that its next Loksabha poll coincide with assemblies poll. By following this suggestions there will be less likelihood of govt falling and the same principle can be adopted if even state govt falls. These politicians always cry about there will be constitutional crisis as yesterday Congress leader P Chindram stated citing the above mentioned two situations. I would like to add here that there have been umpteen numbers of constitutional amendments till date, why can’t few more amendments to  have simultaneous polls so as to save thousands of crores of exchequer money which the govt is spending on the elections every year.
  2. The Income Tax dept has provisionally attached actor Shah Rukh Khan’s supposedly bunglow at Alibagh in Maharashtra. The case is that one Mr Morjeshwar Ajgaonkar , who claimed to be an agriculturist buys an agricultural land  in Thal village of Alibagh in the name of Deja Vu Farms, whose ownership belonged to him, in the land agreement it was clearly mentioned that land is only meant for farming. Soon after the company’s ownership was transferred in the name of Ramesh Chibba, Savita Chibba and Namita Chibba who are Shah Rukh’s Father in Law, Mother in Law  and Sister in Law. This all happened in 2004. The officials from the Office of Alibagh collector have discovered that  there is no farming happening in the plot and there is Bunglow with swimming pool constructed there. Additionally IT people have found out that Shah Rukh has given Rs 8.5 Crore as unsecured loan to this company. There are two cases now one misuse of agricultural land and second is this being the Benami property of Shah Rukh Khan. The news item further stated that Shah Rukh Khan’s CA name is R Ajgaonkar, which indirectly hints that R Ajgaonkar and Morjeshwar Ajgaonkar may be related to each other. What will happen in future is yet to be seen, but most probably  Shah Rukh Khan will get away with by paying penalty and every thing will be regularised. This always happen in this type of cases where celebrities are involved.
  3. Cricket- India reached the final of Under 19 World Cup by beating their arch rival Pakistan by 203 runs in the semi finals, and will meet host Australia in the finals. India has remained unbeaten in this tournament so far, they beat Australia by 100 runs, beat Papua New Guinea by 10 wickets, beat Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in league stages, then beat Bangladesh by 131 runs in quarter finals and beat Pakistan by 203 runs in the semi finals. India and Australia have  both won Under 19 World Cup three times each and I hope India becomes first team to win this world cup 4th time. Kudos to Rahul Dravid the coach of India’s under 19 cricket team. It speaks of  Dravid’s dedication to his job of the coach, when he decided to stay with this job and left the job of mentoring the IPL team.

In the end, waiting for your views/feed backs/comments.
