On this hatke topic is top 10 Bollywood actresses who were star also.

1. At no. 10 is Vyjayantimala– She came to Hindi film industry via Tamil cinema, her first film was Bahar in early 50s. She was the first heroine of Hindi film who was a trained Indian Classical dancer. Her noted films were Nagin, Devdas, Madhumati, Sadhana, Ganga Jamuna, Sangam. she acted with all the leading heroes of 50s and 60s. She won many Filmfare awards.
2. At no. 9 is Nargis-  She started as child artist in early 30s at the age of 5, and as leading lady in early 40s. Her pairing with Raj Kapoor in late 40s and  50s became very famous and they acted in many films together. He famous work was in movies  namely Awara, Barsaat,  Shrre 420, Mother India , Raat aur Din, and many more. She won National and Filmfare awards.
3.  At no. 8 is Madhubala- She also started as child artist. As a leading lady she debuted  with Raj Kapoor in Neelkamal , when she was only 14 years in 1947. Her noted films are Mahal, Amar, Mr & Mrs 55, Kala Paani, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi,, Howrah Bridge and Mughal e Azam, which proved to her swan song. She was known as Venus of India, and generally it is said that no heroine in Bollywood till date  is as beautiful as  she  was.
4. At no. 7 is  Waheeda Rehman-  she came to Bollywood via Telugu film industry and was good classical dancer, she debuted with a side role in  CID. Her other notable work being Guide, Teesri Kasam, Reshma aur Shera, Neelkamal, Khamoshi and many more. She won National and Filmfare awards.
5. At no. 6 is Meena Kumari-  She also started her career as child artist. She was known as tragedy queen because she acted in many serious role. She worked in many films and some of her noted films were Daera, Ek Hi Raasta, Yahudi, Kohinoor, Azaad, Main Chup Rahoongi, Aarti, Sahib Bibi aur Ghulam and Paakezah. she won many Filmfare awards.
6. At no. 5 is Nutan- She also started as very young age, here first  film was Nagina, which was an adult movie and she was not allowed to enter the theatre as she ws only 16 years old then, Her other noted films were Seema, Paying Guest,  Bandini, Sujata,  Tere Ghar Ke Samne, Milan, Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki,Saraswatichandra. She won National and many filmfare awards.
7. At no. 4 is Sridevi –  She  started as child artist in Tamil movies. her first Hindi film was Solva Sawaan but she got fame after Sadma and Himmatwala, her other noted films were Chaalbaaz, Lamhe, Khuda Gawah, , Chandani, Judai, English Vinglish. She made a very successful pair with Jeetendra in potboiler hindi films from south. She won 2 Filmfare best actress awards.
8. At no. 3 is Rekha-  She also started  at very young age and at the age of 14, she acted as leading lady in his first Hindi film Anjan Rahen but Sawan Badhon was her first released film. She had a famous pairing with Amitabh Bachachan. Her noted films are Do Anjaane, Khubsurat, Khoon Bhari Maang, Suhagan, Mr Natwarlal,  Kalyug, Umrao Jaan and many more. she won National and many Filmfare awards.
9. At no 2 is Kajol-  She started acting at very young age of 16, her first film was Bekhudi. She came to notice with Udhar Ki Zindagi as actress. She formed a very formidable pair with Shah Rukh Khan, and as per critics this is best pairing after Raj Kapoor-Nargis & Dharmendra -Hema Malini. Her other noted films are Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Fanna, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, My Name is Khan, Dilwale and many more. She won many Filmfare awards and at presently she is tied with Nutan for winning 5 Filmfare best actress award.
10. And lastly at no.1 is Madhuri Dixit- She is known as star/actress of millennium.  She started her career in film called Abodh but she attained fame with film called Tezaab with song Ek Do Teen Char she came into reckoning as star/actress. Her othe famous films were Beta, Dil, Parinda, Kishan Kanihaya, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Dil To Paagal Hai, Pukar , Devdas, Gulab Gang, Dedh Ishqiya. She formed a hit pairing with Anil Kapoor and they acted in many films together. She was trained Indian classical dancer, but she danced very well in Hindi films. In her hay days every film of her used to have one dance with  a very different signature steps.

There are many other star/actresses who missed this list and they are Geeta Bali Mala Sinha, Saira Banu, Asha Parekh, Sadhana, Karishma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone , Priyanka Chopra, Juhi Chawla and  Jayaprada.
