Few weekend back, I had written about top 10 star/actress of Bollywood, and today I am writing about top 10 pure actress of bollywood.

1. At no 10 it is tie between Geeta Bali and Jaya Bachchan (nee Bhaduri). Geeta Bali -People of this generation may not even heard her name.  She began her career as child artist and made her debut as heroine in Badnami (1946), but she became famous with 1950 film Baawre Nain. After seeing her performance, Raj Kapoor who was her co star in this film remarked to director she is too good. Her other famous films were Baazi with Dev Anand, Albela, Vachan, Anand Math. After her marriage to Shammi Kapoor , she hardly acted in few films. She died in 1965.    Jaya Bachchan- She made her debut in 1971 film Guddi and Uphaar. Her other notable films  of 70s are Abhimaan, Kora Kaagaz, Sholay. She took a break from films in 1975  after her daughter was born (married Amitabh Bachchan in 1973). She came back to films as character artist in 90s and her famous films during this phase were Fiza, Kal Ho Na Ho, Kabhi Khushi Gham. She has won many Filmfare awards as Best Actress & Supporting Actress.
2. At  no 9 is  Anushka Sharma- She made her debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in 2008 film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. She rose to limelight with 2010 film Band Baaja Baraat. Her other notable films are Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl, Jab Tak hai Jaan, PK, NH10, Dil Dhadkne Do, Sultan, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Pari, Zero and Sui Dhaga. She is one actress who always goes for off beat roles. Her work is always been appreciated by viewers and critics. She has won Filmfare award.
3. At 8 is Konkona Sen Sharma- She made her debut in Bengali film Ek Je Aache Kanya (2000), but she gathered attention in English language film Mr & Mrs Iyer directed by her mother Aparna Sen. Her other famous films are Life in Metro, Omkara, Page 3, Wake Up Sid, Aaja Nachle, Luck By Chance, Talvar and Lipstic Under My Burkha. She has won 2 national Awards and many Filmfare Awards.
4. At 7 is Raadhika Apte– She made her acting debut in a small role in 2005 film Vaah, Life Ho To Aisi, She came into limelight with Bengali film Antaheen (2009). Her other famous films where her work was appreciated are Raktha Charitra (1 & 2), Shor in the City, Dhoni, Badlapur, Manjihi-The Mountain Man, Parched, Padman, Lust Stories (Web Film) and Andhadhun. She has acted in many short films and TV Series.
5. At 6 is Rani Mukerji- She made her debut in  1996 film Raja Ki Aayegi Baarat,She got into prominence with 1998 films Ghulam & Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.. Her other famous films are Hey Raam,Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Saathiya, Chalte Chalte, Yuva, Hum Tum, Veer Zaara, Bunty aur Babli, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, No One Killed Jessica, Talaash, Mardani and Hichki. She has won many Filmfare Awards. Basically she is a commercial film actress, who is known for her acting powers.
6. At 5 is Vidya Balan- She started her career in TV series Hum Paanch. He first break through role was  in 2005 film Parineeta. Her other films where she was highly appreciated are  Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Guru, Bhool Bhuliya, Paa,Ishqiya, No One killed Jessica, The  Dirty Picture, Kahani, Hamari Adhuri Kahani, Kahani 2, Begum Jaan and Tumhari Sallu. She has won national Award and many Filmfare Awards.
7. At 4 is Kangana Ranaut– She made her debut in 2006 thriller Gangster and she was praised by cinegoers and critics for her acting. Her other movies in her initial phase were Lamhe, Life in a ..Metro, Fashion, Once upon a time in Mumbai. In the year 2011 she was very much appreciated for her role in Tanu Weds Manu. Other films after this were Krish3,Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Queen, Manikarnika. She has won 3 national Awards and many Filmfare Awards.
8. At 3 is Smita Patil– She came into films from TV industry. Her debut was in Shyam Benegal’s Nishant. Other notable films of her short career were Manthan, Bhumika,Chakra, Aakrosh, Ardh Satya, Bhavani Bhavai, Arth, Bazaar, Shakti, Mandi, Ghulami, Aakhir Kyon, Amrit, Mirch Masala and Waaris. She died at very young age due to complications post delivery of child. She won 2 National Award and one Filmfare Award.
9. At 2 is Shabana Azmi– She came from Film and TV Institute of India (FTII) and her debut film was Shyam Bengal’s Ankur (1974). Her other famous films are Nishant, Junoon, Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Khandhar, Sparsh, Arth, Godmother, Disha, Paar, Swami, Makdee, Avtaar, Thodi Si Bewafai,Bazaar, Fire, Bhavna, Saaz, and recent one Neerja. She has also acted in many masala films. She has won 5 National Awards ( a record) and 4 Filmfare Awards. She has also acted in many Hollywood films

And lastly at no.1 is Tabu-  As a child she acted in Bazaar and Hum Naujawan. She signed her first Hindi film Prem in 1987, but this film took 8 years in making. Her first films to be released were Pehla Pehla Pyar and Vijaypath in 1995. She came of her own as actress when she acted in Gulzar’s Maachis on Punjab insurgency. Her other famous films of 90s were Virasat , Hum Saath Saath Hain and Hu Tu Tu. In the next decades to follow, the films where her acting was top class were Astitva, Chandni Baar, Maqbool, Jaal-The Trap, Cheeni Kum, Haider, Drishyam and recent Andhdhun. Along with all these serious role she has also acted in number of commercial comedy films like Chachi 420, Biwi no. 1, Saajan Chale Sasural and Golmaal Again. She has won 2 national Awards and  6 Filmfare Awards. She is one actress who always goes for the character which she finds very challenging, even if it contains shade of grey or total negative character. For her negative character one must watch her latest  film Andhadhun. She has also acted in few Hollywood films.
