Illegal Immigrants

Few days back one weird thought came into my mind, and that was about what happens to an illegal immigrant in various other countries when the  said person is caught by the authorities. On research what I found out, would like to share with you all, and the findings are as follows:

1. If an illegal immigrant is caught in North Korea, then the said person is sent to the prison for 12 years. No trial , straight to prison, and after the sentence is over the person is deported back to his country of origin.
2. Now if you cross the border of Afghanistan illegally and caught by authorities, you are shot down.
3. If you enter Saudi Arabia illegally, then you are put into prison depending on the circumstances and country of your origin. The term of sentence will depend accordingly after the sentence you are deported back to your country of origin.
4. In case of China, if an illegal immigrant is found and captured by authorities then it will be really difficult to predict that person’s fate.
5. If an illegal immigrant is caught by authorities in Cuba, then he is straight way put into jail for unspecified term, and generally it is till the person collapses due to ill health or eventual death.
6. In Britain an illegal immigrant is first arrested, then questioned, later if found guilty than put into prison. The quantum of prison sentence can vary from person to person depending on circumstances and country of origin. After the prison term is over, the person is deported back to country of origin.

In most of the other countries (except for few Asian countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal etc) the punishment for the illegal immigrant is similar.

Now coming to our country India, if an illegal immigrant is caught by the security forces, as per law he should be arrested and put to trial and sentenced to jail, and on completion jail term he has to be deported back to his country of origin. But this kind of cases are very few and most of the illegal immigrants bribe their way at various border check posts into the country. Then depending upon the illegal immigrants with whom he is in contact locally, and if that person is influential or have some very good contacts politically then the illegal immigrants may acquire the various Indian IDs/facilities like Ration card for subsidised grains, Driving Licence, Voter ID card, Credit cards, and many more other facilities, and in certain states these immigrants have been able to get even the Aadhar card with political connection/bribes. There are certain state govts, where the ruling party to increase their vote bank encourage these type of activities, and these states are generally bordering Bangladesh from where the largest numbers of illegal immigrants have entered India, and because these immigrants can merge with local populationas they speak same  local language.

Now when National Register for Citizen (NRC) was first introduced in Assam as per Supreme Court’s order (SC), you all know what happened across the country. Just to maintain their vote banks few political parties instigated the masses to protest against these law and this resulted in large scale mayhem.

Same thing happened with Citizen Amendment Act(CAA), which was for granting Indian citizenships to Hindus, Sikhs, Parsis, Jains, Buddhist and Catholics immigrants, who were persecuted on religious basis in countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, and they crossed over to India. The citizenship was offered to these people provided they have stayed in India for last 6 years. In these immigrants list Muslims were not included, because Muslim immigrants crossed over to India for economic reasons and not as the person affected by religious persecution.  I am not going into pros and cons of both NRC and CAA. In this blog what I am trying to say is that what happens to illegal immigrants in other countries and what is happening here in our country because of illegal immigrants.

I have seen in last one month that many people on  instigation by various politicians, who have their self interest first, are protesting against these both the bills/acts without understanding/realising that these bills/acts  are for the security of the country. All these people are quoting Human Rights issue, my only question to these human rights activists is  where were they when lakhs of Hindu Kashmiri Pandits were persecuted on religion basis and butchered, raped , murdered, thrown out from their homes in Kashmir. Just because now the affected people are from religion (Islam) which is not covered in CAA,  they are citing issue of Human rights as CAA denies them to become Indian citizens.
