Aadhaar

Friends, you must have observed that recently there is too much hue and cry about linking up of Aadhaar card for Mobile phones and earlier the same was there for linking for the bank account. I do not understand why there is resistance for linking the Aadhaar for Banking and Mobiles, in the west and other developed countries for every thing your social security number is required for just to avoid misuse of the facilities, then why resistance in India and more surprising is that Supreme Court is entertaining such petitions and the reason cited by the petitioners that their personal details will be disclosed to the service provider is all hum bug. As per my opinion the resistance of linking can be for the following reason :

1. Aadhaar Linking with your Bank A/c- People used to have multiple account and only show one of the Bank a/c in income tax, and use other bank accounts for their other activities which are not being disclosed to Income Tax Authorities. So these may be the people who were objecting for the Aadhaar link up. So if your all bank accounts are linked up with Aadhaar then you will have to disclose all the the details while filing your returns.

2. Aadhaar link up with Mobile SIM Card- Now people or objecting to Aadhaar link up with Mobile reason, the reason given is that they do not want to disclose their personal details and right to privacy. The real reason is the same , not to disclose their illegal activities.

Even when earlier Govt decided that you must link your PAN number with your bank account, then also there was lot of resistance, and many people never linked PAN with their bank account, but afterwards it became mandatory.

Now let us see how the linking Aadhaar with various services have benefited:

1. Linking Aadhar with Bank account- Crores of below poverty line people are getting the monetary benefits of various govt schemes directly into their account, earlier the same was given by cash and in that case there was large scale corruption as the middlemen pocketed the most of the funds and hardly 10% of the funds used to reach deserving people.

2.After Aadhaar Link up almost 35 lakhs LPG gas holders have disappeared. What does it means only that there were this many bogus or illegal connections or people were using for commercial purposes, as commercial LPG cylinders are expensive, thus govt was losing the revenue as these commercial units were using subsidised domestic LPG cylinders. It has enable the govt to issue the domestic LPG connections to the deserving people in the villages.

3.After Aadhar Link up about 2 Lakhs students from Madrasas ( Muslim Schools) taking govt scholarship have disappeared, it means some middlemen were pocketing the amount of scholarship and cheating the govt.

4. Approx 1.5 crore Ration card have disappeared, it means so many bogus cards were floating in the market and some middlemen along with ration shop owners were selling the subsidised food items which are available through ration card, in the open market and making a profit.

5. More than 30 lakhs people who were holding below poverty lines (BPL) cards have disappeared and what does that means- it means that so many fictitious people were looting the govt in the name of BPL and pocketing the benefits given to BPL.

6. Recently Maharashtra govt announced loan waivers to farmers and when the govt asked all the farmers to provide their bank Account detail linked with Aadhaar card, the number of farmers reduced by 33% from the original list. It means that there were so many bogus people who had taken loan as farmers but were not doing any farming.

There are so many other instances, where govt have benefited by linking Aadhaar with various schemes, it is only the middlemen and corrupt persons who are shouting against the linking up of Aadhaar card.

I do not understand what are the details in the Aadhaar card which are so private except that your biometric prints and eye scan, otherwise all other details people submit every where for taking any new service from the service provider. It is just that Modi Govt has made Aadhaar card scheme so successful and transparent, which leaders from opposition parties can not digest and realise that this linking up Aadhaar card number is going to block their route for looting the govt money. Modi govt wants to ensure with Aadhaar card that all the benefits provided by the govt reaches the people for whome it is meant. Mind you that Aadhaar card scheme was started by UPA govt, and now the same Congressmen are opposing the linking up of Aadhaar with various services.

I have also read it some where that when corrupt and other dishonest people start shouting against govt policies, it only proves that whatever govt is doing is correct and is moving in right direction.
