Today’s Musings

This time I had a long week end of 3 days, as I could not communicate, friends with you on last Friday. In the last 3 days there were few news items which caught my eyes and I wish to deliberate on the same.

1. It has become habit of Senior Congress Leaders to give irresponsible statements, Once again Ex Home and Finance P Chidambaram made a statement and pitched for greater autonomy for J & K, is he waking from deep slumber, he was Home Minister of India before Pranab Mukherji was made President in 2012, that time he had no guts to utter the word of greater autonomy to J & K. Now when he is out of Power for three years, then his tube light is lit, and he is talking about autonomy. I think these out of power Congress wants to remain in limelight, even by making nonsensical statements. First some leader makes a nonsensical statement, when there is a hue and cry about his statements, then Party Spoke Person makes a statement that the statement is the personal view of the said leader and not the official view of the party. This has happened number of times in last 3 years.

2. Congress VP Rahul Gandhi’s tweets are attracting lots of attention now a days, like he tweeted GST as Gabbar Singh Tax. Yesterday in his tweet he said that all the witty tweets on his account are posted by his dog Pidi, and he attached the photo of his pet dog with the tweet. What does he wanted to convey, that the people who are posting witty tweet have dog’s mind. This attracted a lot of criticism on the tweeter net work, but the best reply was tweeted by Hemanta Biswa Sarma, ex Congressman and presently minister in BJP’s govt in Assam, and he said ” Sir, who knows him (Pidi) better than me, I still remember you were busy feeding him biscuits, while we wanted to discuss urgent Assam issues.” In my opinion if Rahul Gandhi thinks that by sending these type of witty tweets he can win over electorate then he is sadly mistaken, followers on tweeter are not guarantee for votes, the sooner he realises that it will be better for him.

3. Hardik Patel thinks he has become a big leader as he has given ultimatum to Rahul Gandhi and Congress that they should come out by 3rd Nov, how they are going to give reservations to Patidaars if elected to power in Gujarat. In my opinion, the Congress is so desperate to get the support from Hardik Patel and his followers, they might announce some hackneyed scheme for Patidaar’s reservations. I failed to understand when Congress and other opposition leaders will come out of their shell of caste politics and reservations. BJP is talking about Good governance and development for all the citizens, then this reservation issue sounds hollow. I read statement of Rahul some where, which he said during one of his rally in Gujarat that if voted to power, Congress party will remove poverty in 6 months. Has he forgotten that his grand mother Indira Gandhi coined the slogan of “Garibi Hatao” (remove poverty) in 1971 election, and he is still harping on the same slogan even after 46 years. It looks like Congress’s think tank has gone empty otherwise how could he uttered removing poverty in 6 months.

4. It seems good sense is going to prevail on Modi govt as the govt seriously thinking of revising GST rates of various day to day common use items and some relief to small businessmen and traders. It will be beneficial for them if this happen without any further delay. On GST, recently I experienced a very good incident-after eating at some Udipi restaurant in the vicinity of my home, and when bill arrived I was surprised that 8% discount was mentioned on menu item rates and then GST was charged, which is a correct method, but most of the restaurant in Mumbai are using old menu cards where rates are inclusive of sales tax, but in the bill they charge GST on printed rates. Govt is so busy on the other GST matters and by the time they realise these restaurant owners will make a huge fortune
5. So India wins their record 7th consecutive ODI bi lateral series against New Zealand by winning third and last match on Sunday. It looks like Virat Kohli is going to become most successful Indian ODI captain, and as a batsman also he is peaking now. He has become the fastest player to score 9000 ODI runs in just 194 innings while the earlier record stood in the name of AB de Villers who took 205 innings. Yesterday match was great team effort and India in the end managed to win by 6 runs.

In the end what you say my friends.

Awaiting for your feed backs & comments.

Nihil – Insurance companies were earlier charging service tax on premium amount, they are rightly charging G S T. Similarly some medical suppliers are also charging GS T on MRP of medicines , which is also wrong.
