Caste Reservations

The Polity of our country is based on caste reservations system. Yesterday there was a Bharat bandh called by people from schedule caste ,  schedule tribes and other backward class communities and they were backed and supported by many opposition parties including Congress. The bandh was called against the Supreme Court order of March 20 in which it banned automatic arrests and registration of criminal cases under The Schedule Castes and Tribes(prevention of atrocities) Act of 1989. This law was enacted by Rajiv Gandhi to gather the support of SC/ST and other backward class communities, as at that time he was fearing that VP Singh is garnering the support all these communities. You will recall that VP Singh has left Congress in late 1987 and was considered to be the main rival of Rajiv Gandhi for PM’s post. In this act , the law laid down stringent provisions for punishing the people, including public servants, who make casteist slurs and comments considered derogatory to the dignity of the community members. The law also stated that anyone accused of caste related crime could face immediate arrest. The law was strengthen in 2015 through an amendment, and actions such as tonsuring a person’s head or moustache were  also  considered as atrocities. After the SC’s order on 20th Mar there were resentment against this order by the political leaders of these communities and which resulted in yesterday’s Bharat bandh,  where  7 citizens were killed.

The Central Govt on 2nd Apr(yesterday) moved the SC seeking a review of this order, saying it has led to dilution of some stringent provisions of law to prevent atrocities against these communities. It adversely affects the substantial portion of the population of the country, who are members of these communities. It is contrary to the legislative policy of the Parliament as reflected in the provisions of Atrocities act of 1989.

My contention on this issue is till how long all the Political Parties of our country will carry on these appeasment policy with certain communities and in the bargain they are forgetting the major , what you say upper class communities. The situation has reached to such a level that slowly the resentment is building in the upper class people who feel all the political parties are only thinking about SC/ST people and in the process they are losing on the jobs and other benefits, which should be available to them also. Now the general feeling is that Political Parties have made the caste based reservations a tool for amassing votes, and if this reservation policy is not destroyed than it will destroy our nation. Our founding fathers of the constitution had only recommended that the reservations on caste basis should be allowed for only 10 years after the constitution is adopted, but our political leaders are still continuing with the same even after 70 years of independence.

38% of Doctors in USA are Indians

36% of NASA Scientist are Indians

34 % of Microsoft Employees are Indians

28% of IBM Employees are Indians

27% of INTEL Employees are Indians

37% of Total Scientists in USA are Indians

And the Irony is still India is backward and not still entered the Progessive nations Club, that is because of our selfish politicians who encourage reserved more than the deserved.  At this juncture the policy should be ” Reservations in Educations and Jobs only on the basis of Economic Status irrespective of Caste & Religion. There was a recent news in the media  about Namrata Jain who had a rank of 99 in UPSC  competitive exam, but she could not become IAS Officer but reserved category candidate Chandrakant Verma. who got 352 rank became IAS officer. If this criteria is going to persist for long run then how the country can dream of progressing. Even SC  is in favour of reservation on the basis of economic status rather on caste basis. There are many SC/ST citizens who are earning in lakhs per month but their children still use the reservation system to get into best education institutions and best govt jobs. On the other hand poor people of upper class, say brahmins, are suffering. If this reservation policy is not changed then our country will always remain  backward in the world because if the top minds and top rank holders are deprived of the posts just because they do not fit into your quota system, then think how the country is going to run.

After Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) for IIT the cut off for different category students(in 2017) were

General category- 104, OBC-70, SC-50 & ST-44. What  offence did students with 103 marks in General category committed  and what was great about ST student with 44 marks that he got admitted.Is this the criteria for our nation building.

No country can be finished by Atomic Bomb- Example Japan

No country can be destroyed even in thousand years- Example Israel

But if you want to destroy any country then start reservation policy, so that undeserving people occupy high posts resulting automatic destruction of the country.

Secondly have you ever heard Japan Bandh, England Bandh, USA Bandh etc etc, this is also one of the reason for our country not able to achieve wanted progress.

I do not know which leader or Political party will change this system, till that time country is going to suffer.
