So Virat Kohli had its say at last and Ravi Shastri was appointed coach of Indian Cricket team.Cricket advisory committee (CAC) consisting of Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly and VVS Laxman finally selected Ravi Shashtri as Coach although there was strong indication that CAC might go with Varinder Sehwag, but in the end they had to bow to Captain’s wish and command.
Few observations on this issue
- Before even Anil Kumble resigned , BCCI had advertised for the post of Indian coach in the media. Few eminent players had applied for the coach’s job before the last date mentioned in the ad.
- But after Kumble’s exit Virat Kohli hinted to BCCI that as a captain he will prefer to work with Ravi Shastri as coach, so the last date of applying was extended to enable Shastri to apply. Shastri also had some reservations but in the end he relented and applied, and was finally selected . The CAC completed the charade of interview and made the announcement.
- But the CAC played one card which Virat Kohli was not expecting, without consulting him or Ravi Shastri, they announced that Zaheer Khan will be Bowling Coach and Rahul Dravid will be batting coach during overseas tour. For many years it has been the responsibility of national coach to pick, batting, bowling and fielding coach and other supporting staff.
- Zaheer has still not the announced his retirement from domestic cricket and Rahul is already a coach for India Jr and under 19 teams. No body knows how Rahul Dravid is going to handle this dual responsibility, or BCCI is compensating him for losing his job as Delhi Daredevils Advisor.
- Now Committee of Administrators (CoA) of BCCI has made a statement that brief given to CAC was to select the coach and no mandate was given to select Bowling and Batting coach. CoA said that are surprised that CAC went ahead and picked Zaheer and Rahul for these jobs.
- There is one more development concerning BCCI . CoA has to file status report before SC on 14th July on the matter concerning BCCI, the CoA has come down heavily on the members of BCCI for not complying with the order of SC. The statement issued by CoA says that ” Whilst some disqualified persons have been forced to demit office after the SC order, they still continue to remain associated with their respective state units in different capacities and are able to procure their nominations as representatives to the BCCI’s meetings.” This was in direct reference to former BCCI president N Srinivasan , who attended the Special General Body Meeting(SGM) as Tamil Nadu Cricket Association’s representative. Such disqualified members have their personal interest in stalling the SC recommendations.
I do not understand why Cricket Stars and some administrators think they are above any law of the country, because BCCI is filthy rich body and the administrators controlling treated it as their personal empire, and on the money power they controlled and pampered the cricketers. Do not know what will happen next year when N Srnivasan owned IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings will join back into IPL fold, and how Srinivasan will try to control IPL tournament. After all in the end it is all about money power ruling the sport.
What you say my friends.
Awaiting for your feed backs and comments.

A precedent is made so that future captains also can choose their coaches ????

Cricket, especially in India, is one sport where Captain has got more say than coach . In all other games coach is supreme, because we have elevated to Cricketers to Demi god status.
