Indu Sarkar

Indu Sarkar is a soon to be released film, which is directed by acclaimed director Madhur Bhandarkar. The film  is based in the period  of 70s during emergency . As soon as director announced in pre release communication, and subsequent release of the trailer, that the film is based on the subject of Emergency, the Congressmen are feeling jittery how the film will portray their much devoted leader Indira Gandhi and they have started agitating against the film and started the demand that the film should be shown to top congress leader before release.

My few thoughts on the subject:

1. The Congressmen should realise that the Emergency period is the blot on Indian Democracy and  their leader and then PM Indira Gandhi was responsible for the same.
2. All the atrocities committed by Administration and Congress leaders and workers are well documented in the history. Now if some film maker wants to show  what happened during that period, why they should have any objection.
3. Some Congress leaders, whose only job is to do chamchagiri of the members of Nehru/Gandhi family, want to score a brownie points, so that they can  please their masters.
4. Congressmen should realise that their leaders Indira Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi were after all  humans and  not God, and they also committed so many mistakes like other normal human beings.
5. Indira Govt during Emergency period banned a film called Aandhi, directed by Gulzar, just because they thought the character played by Suchitra Sen  loosely resembled Indira Gandhi, and now present day Congressmen are demanding that this film should not be released without even seeing the same. What a hypocrisy and height of Chamchgiri.
6. Jagdish Tytler( One of the Congress leader involved in Sikh massacare in 1984), who was working during Emergency with Sanjay Gandhi, wants to know whether there is any character based on him in this film. It only means that he must have been involved with Sanjay Gandhi in the crimes/extra constitutional activities committed  during that period.
7. Congressmen should realise that Madhur Bhandarkar has made a statement that the film is a fictional story based on happenings during emergency. When Congressmen support the people who shouts slogan like praising  Afzal Guru and claiming he is martyr,  say it is protester’s freedom of speech. Then similarly in this case they should consider Madhur Bhandarkar’s freedom to make the film and say it is his freedom to express his feelings in the form of film.
8. Most of the present day Congressmen were not even born or children when the emergency happened, my humble request to them is to go and read history of emergency and excess committed during that period, and do not listen to Congress leaders whose only job is to do Chamchagiri of Nehru/Gandhi family.
9. Congressmen do some thing, which will help general public. Please do not use this form of protest against film maker to get some coverage in newspapers.
