Unknown Historical Facts

There are many facts of  Indian History, which people are not aware, because these are the facts which are about Hindu Rulers, and we from school days are only taught about history which basically concerns Mughals , British rule and whatever Congress govt at Centre wanted us to read. I am briefly giving below some interesting facts about this kind of history:

  1. King Porus- His full name was Porus Parmanand Katoch. We have only read in history books that  Sikandar defeated Porus and imprisoned him, and when Sikandar asked Porus how he should be treated, and Porus replied that the same way one King treats the other King. The fact is that  Sikandar had to face heavy casuality of his soldiers in the war, but he any how captured Porus. In fact Sikandar had lost the battle,he apologised to Porus in the end and started his journey back to Egypt, but due to illness he died on the way.
  2. King Kanhad Dev- He defeated Allauddin Khilji in 1300 AD and took back the Somnath temple from him.
  3. King Viram Dev- He also fought with  Allauddin Khilji and did the extensive damage to Khilji’s forces. Seeing his valour Khilji’s daughter started loving him and revolted against her father, but in the end when she could not achieve what she wanted, she committed suicide.
  4. Maharana Uday Singh- he was king of Mewad and fought many battles with Mughal Kings Hamayun and Akbar. He was the father of Maharana Pratap.
  5. Maharana Pratap- History about his rule in Mewad is bit known, because Rajput community never allowed that his name should not be there in Indian history. The stories about his bravery and valour are in the history. He was the one ruler whom Mughals could hardly defeat and he fought many battles with Mughals. it has been said that Akbar never came to fight with Maharan Pratap, he always used to send his Commanders to fight with him, such was Pratap’s fear in Akbar’s mind. It has been said that he was really a giant man with height of 7 feet 3 inches and weight of 150 Kg. He was the one ruler who never accepted defeat.
  6. Prithviraj Chauhan- he fought many battles with Mohd Gauri and won 16 times but 17th time he lost  and Gauri made him prisoner. Gauri took him to Afghanistan, and in prison Gauri made his eyes sightless. Prithiraj was famous for shooting an arrow on hearing the sound from the target area. Gauri  before executing him wanted to see this. Prithviraj  with little clue from his co prisoner shot an arrow hearing Gauri’s voice, and that arrow killed  Gauri. In the end Prithviraj and his co prisoner stabbed each other which resulted in death of both, because Prithiraj never wanted to die from Mughal’s hand.
  7. Chhatrapati Shivaji- like Maharana Pratap, he has also been present in the history books because of Maratha community. He fought many battles with Aurangzeb and emerged victorious. Even when he was caught by Aurangzeb’s forces  and was prisoned. With his astute  cleverness  he escaped from the prison also. He was the first person who introduced guirella tactics in the battle front.
  8. Peshwa Bajirao- He was commander of Maratha forces in early 18th century. He also never lost a battle. His name is also there in history, may be because of Maratha community.
  9. Guru Govind Singh- Sikh community knows about his valour and bravery,  and how he fought Mughals to save  Hindu religion.  Outside Sikh community and Punjab , people hardly know him. He was 10th and last Sikh Guru, he founded Sikhism, How- he requested every Hindu family of Punjab to see that one son from the family should join the force which he wanted to create to fight Muslims, and this warrior community he named as Sikh. He and his sons fought with Mughals so that no Hindu is forcible converted to Islam.  His two sons were beheaded by Mughals and other 2 sons were  buried alive in the wall. Delhi’s Gurdwara Sheeshganj is  in memory of his sons.

Above were the people who fought Mughals and other Islamic invaders, but not much is known about them in the whole country. Now let us see the people who fought the British Rule :

  1.  Rani Laxmibai- She was queen of Jhansi, who took part in first battle of Independence in 1857, and died at very young age in mid 20s. She never allowed British to capture the state of Jhansi. She also did not get the proper mention in the modern Indian history books.
  2. Shaheed Bhagat Singh-  He was the freedom fighter, who fought against atrocities of British Rule. He along with his other freedom fighters blasted the bomb in national Assembly, so that  Indian’s view point will be heard world wide during the trials. In the end he was hanged along with Sukhdev and Rajguru. British called them traitors and which congress party accepted. There were huge hue and cry in the public before the hanging and so many leaders wanted Gandhi to intervene , and request British govt for their pardon, which Gandhi refused. What the modern history based on British and Congress version say about them- they were the people who revolted against British govt and were hanged.
  3. Chandrashekhar Azad- He was colleague of Bhagat Singh, who also fought for India’s freedom. British govt tried the level best to capture him , but with no success. In the end they kept a reward of Rs 5,000.(may be equivalent to present day 5 Cr). During one of the encounter with British forces, he realised that his ammunition is getting over, so instead of being captured by British, he killed himself with the last bullet. In this case also, how many Indians know about him.
  4. Subhashchandra Bose- Once contemporary of Gandhiji and Nehru in Congress, but he never agreed with their views of Indian supporting British in World War II, and he never wanted the Indian soldiers in British Army to fight in world war II. So he delinked himself from Congress and formed Indian National Army (INA) to fight against British rule in India with support of Japan & Germany. His INA was the 1st one to raise the tricolour flag on Indian soil in north east after defeating British in Burma. his famous slogan was ” Tum Mujhe Khoon Do, Main Tumhe Azadi Doonga” means you give me your blood , I will give you freedom. No body was certain about how he died. Nehru in one of his letter to British PM wrote that your  “WAR CRIMINAL” is reported to be hiding in Russia. Such was Nehru’s hatred for Bose. Therefore in the modern Indian history Bose has not got the place, what he deserved actually.

Above are the few examples quoted from Mughal and British era, there may be 1000s of other incidents/persons which have found no place in modern Indian history.

So now we all know how the Mughals, Britishers and Congressmen have destroyed the  Indian history of almost 700 years.  And for them any thing which has occurred in Indian history before 1300 BC is of no value, and for them Ramayan and Mahabharat are epic stories, and for them Indian history starts from Mughal era.
